Andreas Bjelland wants to join a Premier League club this summer after rejecting another offer to stay at Brentford, Sky Sports News understands.

The 29-year-old Denmark centre-back's current deal expires in June and he is already attracting interest from the top flight as well as clubs in Germany's Bundesliga.

Bjelland is expected to feature for Denmark at the World Cup after an impressive qualifying campaign and is almost certain to wait until after the tournament to decide his next move.

The former FC Twente man has made 64 appearances for the Bees since recovering from a serious knee injury sustained on his debut for the club in 2015.

Earlier in April, he said: "I feel better this year. I played a lot more games and at centre-back, not at left-back. I feel good. My body feels good."

Brentford had been hoping to keep the left-footed centre-half but he recently rejected a new contract offer following discussions that have extended back to last summer.

Sky Sports News reported last week that Brentford, who missed out on a Championship play-off place with defeat at Barnsley on Saturday, have been scouting for Bjelland's replacement.
