Khan and Roach: re-inventing
I am expecting to see a more patient and wiser Amir Khan this time round. He's incredibly brave, so keen to impress and brilliant for British boxing, but he needs a little more caution. We know he is always going to attack because that is what he does best and nobody has ever doubted that side of his game.

Quotes of the week
We wondered if Ricky Hatton could do it and rejuvenate himself, now it's time to see if Amir Khan can do the same.
He has done a similar thing in switching trainers to Freddie Roach and is probably going back to the drawing board too.
Ricky did it and did it well, but there is one thing that makes the reincarnation of Amir Khan that little bit tougher - he'll have to keep that chin tucked away.
Now that Khan has been stopped and stopped badly everyone, including Oisin Fagan, will think they can knock him out if they can catch him.
The problem is people have seen he can be flattened, not just hurt by a non-puncher like Willie Limond, and that means anyone out there will fancy their chances. It means he loses that aura of invincibility that a boxer who has won something carries with him.
Sometimes fighters are scared of these types of guy before they even get in the ring. Mike Tyson built an entire career round it until Buster Douglas came along and proved to the world he was nothing but a big bully.
From then on, everyone felt they could beat Tyson and wanted a piece of him and that is the terrible position Amir finds himself in before he has even won anything as a pro.
But I am sure Freddie Roach has been working on that. There is nothing in your genetic make-up that suggests you can take a shot better than the next man or you have a glass jaw.
The trouble with Amir is he is always on the move and that is part of his problem. It's like when you're standing on a bus, you bend your legs. If you don't you will fall over and you certainly don't try and move when you're that bus, because your legs will betray you. He needs a much more solid base.
Also Khan has to avoid being hit. So I would expect Roach has been tightening up that defence and making him a more patient fighter all together, certainly than we he charged in against Breidis Prescott without even taking a look at him.
I do think Freddie Roach is the perfect choice as well. Ever since Eddie Futch 'gave him' Virgil Hill he has trained world champions and strikes me as the sort of calming influence Amir needs right now. We saw Floyd Mayweather Snr have an impact on Ricky Hatton and I am sure we will see the same here.
That said, he will not be in the corner on Saturday night and that will be a problem. Had Roach been at the ExCel Arena it would've given Khan that extra confidence that is so important when you are coming off your first loss. Dean Powell will be there though, who is a good guy.
I am expecting to see a more patient and wiser Amir Khan this time round. He's incredibly brave, so keen to impress and brilliant for British boxing, but he needs a little more caution. We know he is always going to attack because that is what he does best and nobody has ever doubted that side of his game.
He will need to be careful because Oisin Fagan is a good, live opponent. As I say, he will fancy his chances of landing on that chin and if there is any over-confidence or over-eagerness on Amir's part, Fagan is decent enough to capitalise on it.
I still expect Amir Khan to come out and thrill us all and prove he is back. The jury is still out on his ability to take a shot and you can't take a bath without getting wet, so I want to see him take a shot.
I don't want to see him wobbled, we certainly don't want to see him floored - if we do, well then the jury is out even further... and might not ever come back in!
But I expect Amir to put on a show. He has been sparring with Manny Pacquiao which can't be bad and he is still the future of British boxing - providing the reincarnation goes to plan.
David Haye could be made to wait for a shot at the world heavyweight title with the Klitschko brothers lining up different opponents.
Floyd Mayweather Snr insists that Ricky Hatton has what it takes to beat Manny Pacquiao.
Manchester lightweight John Murray will defend his British title against Lee McAllister at the Robin Park Centre in Wigan on January 17.
Olympic gold medallist James DeGale and Great Britain head coach Terry Edwards are revelling in their inclusion on the New Year Honours List.
Frank Warren is excited by the number of potential champions coming through the ranks.

Khan is good, but the fact that he's already been defeated before making it world champion certainly reflects on how good The Prince Naseem Hamed really was. Khan won't ever be as good as Nas. But, lets all wish him luck against this lamb he is about to slaughter ...

Khan is a very good fighter. He is quick and strong with the power to knock out anyone he faces. He needs a tighter defence but i'm sure he will develop that in time. TIME! He is 21 and may have another 10-15 years of boxing left in him. Let's get behind the boy and marvel at a fantastic comeback.

As mentioned below, I think people need to back off a while, he is only 21 years old and still have an impressive record, hardly ever a dull Khan Fight even if the last one is for the wrong reasons. The pressure and expectation we heap on our sporting stars whattever the sport in this country is unbeleivable. People like Audely Harrison are the real frauds, Amir Khan has a true hart and massive ambition he will keep trying and trying untill he gets that world title. In the right hands and with more experience he could be awsome but give him time. As for the last fight, come on, if Bredis Prescott was alowed for get four or five full on punches flush on any fighter in that weight class he would have put em down aswell, ok thats Khans fault for getting caught like that but had Khan done that to prescott it could quite easily have been the same story. Its not often you see that in the first round of fights when boxers punches are at there strongest, 6 - 7 rounds in khan still punches hard, its just tuning him up into a more complete fighter. He'll be fine, however I think he needs a five or six match unbeaten run before he challenges for any titles he is far from being ready but I just think his critisism is unfair.

khan is ready to come back i think, he started to get to over confident and believe his own hype, rushed in,took a shot full on,str8 up,cold, against a wrong figher at tht tym in his career any boxer would go down frm tht hook.. wel he has tym to improve da defense, i dont tink his boxer life is over far from it, he wil be champ in da future!

Im worried about how Amir will act if he is wobbled. Against Prescott, he tried hitting him, completely missed and got badly exposed. I hope he keeps his defence tight if he is rocked, he cant fight his way out of trouble like Calzaghe. I also hope he doesnt react to his knockout like how Roy Jones reacted to his bad KOs

I think Amir Khan will get KNOCKED out. Breidis Prescoot proved that Amir Khan was all hype and nothing special. If Amir Khan wanted to prove himself he should be having a rematch with Breidis Prescott instead I believe he has gone for an easier option. This option has made him to look a fool. If he wins this then a rematch should be lined up, otherwise even if he becomes CHAMP he will be a foney one, because he did not fight the best like the greats have done in the past. Ali, Lewis, Rocky... lol

Anyone in that division would have been badly hurt and probably knocked out by the Prescott punches. The guy is a big big puncher with all but one of his gights ending inside the distance. A more measured approach by Khan would have served him well in that fight. Because Prescott was used to knocking out people early what would have happened if Khan boxed sensibly and was still standing after 6 - 8 rounds Pacquaio was knocked out a couple of times earlier in his career, Lennox Lewis was knocked out twice and still went on to be the best. Give Amir a chance modifying his style and being more patient will help him a great deal and his lightning punches will serve him well. I think Freddie Roach will fine Tune Khan and make him well rounded and more measured. Don't write the guy off just yet

It doesn't matter who trains Amir Khan, in boxing you will get hit at some point. Khan was stopped in the amateurs with a head guard on, he was badly hurt against a non-puncher and also knocked out against Breidis Prescott who didn't have a single named fighter on his record. Unless he copies the style of Floyd Mayweather and runs away for 12 rounds, he wont get any further than European level, even that is pushing it. As GM said, his opponents will always feel they have a chance of knocking him out, even if they have lost 11 out of 12 rounds. Confidence is everything in boxing, I dont see him being able to get back on track, especially when you get wobbled by a jab! I hope he does do well and proves everyone wrong but I dont see it myself.

Amir Khan is going to become a world champ soon, even though he lost to prescott, that was the best thing that has happend in his career so far, know amir knows what defeat tastes like he will never make that same mistake again. AMIR = WORLD CHAMP

I think a lot of people need to lay off this kid! He is 21 and up to the Prescott fight everyone loved him. I think its very rare for a fighter to go unbeaten and i wasnt expecting him too.I put it down to him learning he come out and not knocked out by an unknown fighter. You didnt see everyone on Lewis's back when he got knocked clean by Rahman who has proved to be a nobody. If Khan can make a good recovery then avenge his defeat to Prescott it will all be forgotten and put down to experience. All i know is the kid got caught with some hard shots and bounced up first time and then went straight back in and got caught again. I think he has heart its his defensive skills letting him down.

Many boxers go down if they git hit flush, we've seen with Legend Calzaghe. The key to the success of great fighters is that they don't get hit much. Khan needs 2 focus on not getting hit flush, not giving his opponents that chance and that can only happen with a tighter defence. Sort out the defence and Khan can gradually get back to where he should be, public needs to get behind British fighters rather than slating em!!!

I personally believe Fagan will knock out Khan, due to the simple fact he has been found against a better calibre of opposition. I believe he was built up to be something he isnt ( a world class boxer) and he has paid the price. I dont think it is the end of Khans boxing career, he is still a young fighter, but he wont become the great he was expected to be as he simply cant take a punch as was proven in his last bout. Any good boxer will rip Khan to shreds!

amir khan will be fighting handpicked safe opponents from now on otherwise he will get knocked out again and it will be the end of his career,in boxing one of the most important aspect is a boxers chin amir khan has got a glass chin, and you cannot train your chin so he will have to fight non punchers make his money and then have one dangerous fight with a puncher at championship level if he ever gets that far which he will lose.

Breidis Prescott got lucky against Amir Khan. It was just Amirs little stupid fault that he ran straight out on him and got caught. He can take a punch, that hard punch knocked him down and he got straight back up although he was all over the place, he still got back up. Breidis got lucky, Khan looked absolutely ready for the Breidis fight, he looked tough and ready on the day, it was just his little mistake, what carried him away was the crowd. If Amir didn't get carried away, B. prescott would have lost by a knock-out easily. Amir Khan is too good for him but he's too eager to please his fans which made him lose.

I'm looking forward to Saturday. I agree with Glenn with mostly everything he says. My opinion, Kahn is great to watch becuase of his speed, skill and power but the best thing is he can go out like a light himself! Kahn should slow down be patient, go in there and box. Fagen should only be in there for 4-6 rounds if he does the job right! If he fails on Judgement Night Kahn's career could be heading for the gallows!

Sammy One i think you missed the point about Roach training Arthur as Roach wasnt with Arthur for a long period in fact he was training him over the phone, and sometimes via webcam,Arthur only had a few sessions with him while amir has been there for a good 6-7weeks and although he wont have roach in the corner he has dean powell who has been with khan in the corner from day 1 and also an assistant to roach who has been part of the camp, arthur on the other hand had no one in his corner who could administer the changes that roach brought to the table thats why he failed

Freddy Roach is an excellent trainer, however Khan has a weak chin which was exposed and regardless of how much sparing, training and talking takes place, his chin will remain weak. Khan will get hit again, it may take a few fights due to carefull matchmaking, he will be built up again as a potential world champion, however he will get hit at some point and he WILL be knocked out again. Any one who thinks different is kiding themselves, Khan has a fatal flaw which can not be fixed.
