With England back on the agenda the talk has returned once again to the subject of David Beckham and whether he should or shouldn't win his 100th cap.

Fabio Capello didn't pick him in his first side to face Switzerland but with the former captain apparently fit and ready to face France on March 26, will Capello give Becks a chance to chalk up his ton at last?

It is a subject that is sure to divide opinion and the The Sunday Supplement took up the debate this week.

Have a look at what this week's guests had to say on the matter and then join in the debate yourself by filling out the form below....

Paddy Barclay, Sunday Telegraph:

I would have him in the squad. I wouldn't start with him because there are other players that I would want to look at.

Ian Ridley, Mail on Sunday:

There is no direct pressure on Capello (to pick him) but there is some pressure in the sense that 'let's get it out of the way'.

John Richardson, Sunday Express:

Beckham is evidently fit now, I would have him in the squad... because he is a class player.

I totally agree with Lewis and Lee. Until there is a player better than him, he should remain on the team and frankly right now there is no one better!!

If Beckham gets the 100 will the media promise to forget about the bloke and concentrate on what's important - like Capello trying to pick a winning England team? If so then give him the cap and wave him goodbye, and let's get back to England being the story and not an overrated and overhyped player. I'm sick and tired of hearing Beckham, Beckham, Beckham!!!!.

Matt Hallett says...

If he is fully match fit, playing regularly and playing better than Bentley, Young, Lennon, Wright-Phillips etc then yes. But he has played a charity match this week, this being his first "match" for several months. Does this show he is fit and playing well enough to earn a spot? No! Therefore I don't expect Capello to pick him - barely anything has changed since the Switzerland match.

Lewis Davidson says...

I'm sorry but was I the only person watching the game against Croatia? David Beckham should play for England because in that game he was the best damn player on the park and if the rest of the team(with the exception of Crouch) had played to his standard then perhaps England might have qualified. He deserves his 100th cap due to the fact he still has the ability and more importantly the determination, commitment and belief which the rest of the squad seems to lack when it comes to international football.

Lee Taylor says...

I was at the England v Croatia game and David Beckham turned that game around. This is because he is still the best crosser of the ball in the world and teams are affraid of that. so just for that reason he should play

Becks addition to the side will only result in more controversy. Should he be selected captain is the next question that poses itself. However, I firmly believe that the future of English football rests in those able to add 'football' to the team in coming years and competitions, and not in the form of glamour and press coverage. Has Becks given to England more than Lennon or SWP? Definitely? Will he give more than either in the future? Definitely not. He realizes that his career is nearing its end and that is why he chose to take his football to where his skills and commercial appeal is more suited. If his football was in the shape it could benefit England, he would have joined a more competitive cause in European football rather than acting as an ambassador of 'soccer' in the US. As Englishmen, do you want to be stuck on his free kick against Greece, or do you want to build on that to achieve more in the future, I think that is the right question to ask to yourselves!

Wake up England; this is a marketing scam. The continual news debate on Beckam getting his 100th cap is insane. Beckham's infrequent contribution (and total lack of fitness during the 2004 Euros) has been a major factor in England failing to win any trophies. The facts are 1) He is playing for a "pub" team because no top team wants him. 2) He cannot possibly be match fit to an "international standard", since he has played so infrequently. 3) He has consistently failed to dominate the midfield, except in matches against lower opposition. 4) His sole contribution has been the "long ball", which has so infrequently failed to produce an end-product (with possibly 4 exceptions). 5) He can't head, dribble, shoot with his left foot and never tackles! On the positive side, he is 100% committed and always tries his best (albeit this is a given for all international players.
