Floyd Mayweather is on tour and no longer the act he used to be

Johnny Nelson has been on stage with Floyd Mayweather and admits he was the perfect actor when he was fighting but is now honest, open and amusing after hanging up the gloves...

Spending time on stage with Floyd Mayweather is fun. He is a funny guy but he has been open and honest on everything.

I've seen him in London, Sheffield and Glasgow and it looks like there will be a few more in the next few days. There will be plenty more to learn about a guy that has been the best-known boxer in the world.

For me, the most interesting part of it all has been the Floyd Mayweather we never knew. And I bet people's opinions have changed if they've been to one of his shows.

One thing I've learnt is that Floyd was the perfect actor. He has been on stage on his tour but we have been seeing the real Floyd Mayweather.

He had to create a character - and always said he had to - when he was fighting and we were all buying into it.

'Money' Mayweather was always brash, flash and loud but the one thing he never did was lie when it came to it. When he said he was good, or even better than that, he didn't have to hide behind this character. He was never horrible about people, he was just being very, very direct.

That was the Mayweather we all know and who everyone wants to see but for me, the most interesting part of it all has been the Floyd Mayweather we never knew. And I bet people's opinions have changed if they've been to one of his shows.

Times were hard for Mayweather as a youngster. He speaks about his mum, about how there were seven sharing a room, and how they had no money.

I never knew that and I was not alone. It has changed my perception of Floyd Mayweather, not the man we saw go 49-0, but the person behind all that.

Johnny Nelson has been putting Mayweather under the spotlight

The one thing that hasn't surprised me is the way he has been mobbed wherever he's gone. Last night in Sheffield, he was late arriving and you could see people getting itchy in their seats - moaning and groaning - but as soon as he walked in, all that disappeared.

People were all over him. They wanted autographs, pictures, questions, everything. He apologised for being late but it was completely forgotten as soon as they saw him.

Even if I am hosting, I am not really asking questions. It is just the chance to get Mayweather to open up and - as I said at the start - he is honest and open.

He was full of credit for Kell Brook in Sheffield, he gave his opinion on the Amir Khan situation, he was candid on his opinion on the state of the game and how he is taking things into his own hands, and is happy to ruffle a few feathers of the big-time promoters.

From the word go, he just said: "Johnny, ask me anything you want. I've got nothing to hide."

Last night, I asked him about all his jewellery and suggested it was more like a woman winning the lottery, not a boxer.

I asked him how many cars he has and there he was thinking, telling us all he'd sold one of his Bugattis... and still came up with 35!

I asked him how many watches he has and he came out with 58. I tried to make the point that you only need one to read the time but he started laughing and saw the funny side - but then reminded me he can change them on a daily basis... for almost two months.

It has been funny from my side as well. When you're up in Glasgow and he says he is off to a club afterwards, there I was thinking it would be one round the corner - not going to Raffles in London via his private jet. Floyd is clearly enjoying the tour and obviously doing a bigger tour than we'd imagined.

Last night we were in Sheffield and he was full of credit for Kell Brook and with Bolton coming up on Thursday, we know Amir Khan won't be there, but I am waiting to see if Tyson Fury pops in.
