Kell Brook's trainer Dominic Ingle has warned Errol Spence Jr ahead of his fight with the 'Special One'

Kell Brook's trainer, Dominic Ingle, has warned Errol Spence Jr not to underestimate his fighter following his loss to Gennady Golovkin.

IBF welterweight champion Brook (36-1-25KO) will defend his belt against undefeated Errol Spence Jr (21-0-18KO) in front of a sell-out crowd of 27,000 at Sheffield's Bramall Lane on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

The 31-year-old will be seeking to bounce back from his first career defeat after being stopped by middleweight kingpin Gennady Golovkin last September.

Spence's camp have accused Brook of looking for plaudits for even setting foot in the ring with Golovkin but Ingle insists that is not the case.

Brook talks about his preparations for Saturday's fight against Spence Jr at Bramall Lane

Ingle told Sky Sports News HQ: "I have heard so many interviews with Spence's trainer, Derrick James, saying Kell Brook wants a pat on the back for going in with Golovkin - it was never like that.

"Kell went into that fight to win and when he came out of it he took nothing out of it apart from a loss. He didn't look at it as some kind of victory.

"He went to test himself against the best and he didn't get up to the mark. He was injured and he would love to do that fight again.

"We are not trading on that fight ever since. It was a loss. That is what it was.

"If Errol Spence is getting any kind of enthusiasm out of that fight, thinking Kell has got beat by Golovkin and he is on the slide, he is totally wrong. He is a bigger guy and a totally different fighter to Errol Spence.

"If I was Spence or his trainer I'd be thinking 'Kell Brook has so much courage and aggression', that is what I'd be concerned about."

Carl Frampton believes Brook will beat Spence Jr if he has adapted well to returning to welterweight

Ingle was forced to throw in the towel in the fifth round against Golovkin after Brook suffered a broken eye socket.

And the veteran trainer insists he made the right decision, and that it will benefit Brook in the long run.

"Kell would fight to the death but I have to make a responsible decision and I did that," Ingle explained. "In my opinion it was the right decision. I think it has proved to be the right decision in the long run.

"If it hadn't been done then, Kell could have gone three, four or five more rounds but he would have sustained more damage which would have kept him out of the ring longer. It might have been a year.

"We got him out of there in five rounds. He had the operation, he was on the mend and then he went straight into a training camp and now he is back in a big fight again."
