Anthony Joshua could be unsettled by the late call-up of new mandatory challenger Carlos Takam, according to Johnny Nelson.
The heavyweight world champion puts his IBF and WBA 'Super' belts on the line at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff, on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Takam has replaced the injured Kubrat Pulev and Nelson not only thinks he will be ready to spring a surprise but also wonders what impact it will have on the champion.
"Fighters get spooked by silly little things, like not being the last man out of the changing room, not putting their boots on properly, things like that," he told Sky Sports News.
"I think this could be spookier for Joshua.
"When you get an opponent in at the last minute you know that if you are at the top of the tree, they know what you're like, what you're good at."
Nelson went to Paris to see Takam the day after he was confirmed as the replacement mandatory.
The French-based 35-year-old has recently taken Joseph Parker the distance, and with nothing to lose in Cardiff on Saturday, Nelson believes he can cause Joshua problems.
"If he (Takam) had more notice, I think this would've been a harder fight than Pulev," Nelson said.
"He's an attacking fighter, he's very cool, very calm and very matter of fact, and he's not intimidated by it all.
"Yes, he's frustrated he hasn't had more notice for this particular fight, but he says 'you will see what I can do'."
