George Groves says he can't wait to be back in the ring against Christopher Rebrasse

George Groves does not think that he is a broken fighter after his defeat to Carl Froch and is looking forward to stepping back into the ring.

The English boxer is gearing up to face Frenchman Christopher Rebrasse at Wembley Arena and Groves sees this fight as the perfect opportunity to challenge for world titles again.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: “I just want to be busy and I just want to box. We didn’t want to hang about after the last fight, we’ve come straight back in to take the quickest route back to a world title fight.

“I don’t feel like a fractured and a broken fighter and that’s why we’ve taken this fight. If we could’ve taken an even bigger fight then we would’ve taken it.

He added: “We just want to be back in the big time fighting for world titles and, as I say, I want to achieve my goal and become world champion sooner rather than later.”

However, Groves admitted that he was venturing into the unknown by taking on Rebrasse.

“I’ve never seen him box live but we’ve studied the tapes that are up on line and you can tell from the class of opponent that it’s not going to be an easy fight,” he said.

“I’ve been fortunate that my last two fights have been against another Brit and there’s plenty of footage of them inside and outside the ring regularly. But this time round we’ve got a French opponent and we don’t know too much about him.

“But we have to cover all bases and make sure you know everything that this guy can bring. That’s how we’ve always approach our boxing.

“We’ve wanted to work on all aspects of our game - improving in our weaknesses as well as our strengths and be ready to challenge anyone at any moment so I’m sure we’ll adapt and overcome the task on Saturday.”

After the loss to Froch at Wembley, Groves is still confident in his abilities as a boxer and thinks a win on Saturday will put him back on the right track.

“I would love to say that I’ve put it (the loss to Froch) to bed but I probably haven’t and part of me doesn’t really want to,” he said.

“I don’t like losing and that will never sit right with me but at the same time I’m fully confident in my abilities and I know that I will be moving on forward in the right direction now.”

Watch George Groves take on Christopher Rebrasse live on Fight Night, Sky Sports 2 HD on Saturday evening, with coverage from 8pm.
