Paul Smith has revealed that a reported world title shot against Tyron Zeuge is not "over the line" yet.
The Liverpool veteran (38-6) had been linked with challenging the WBA 'regular' super-middleweight champion but insisted a deal hasn't yet been struck.
"I've been speaking to my manager and trainer and nothing is over the line yet," he told Sky Sports.
"It's the only fight I want, I've been waiting since November or December. It's a case of 'watch this space'."
Smith, 34, has twice challenged for super-middleweight titles in the past, but lost on both occasions to WBO champion Arthur Abraham. He has strung together three victories since losing to Andre Ward.
Germany's Zeuge, 10 years junior to Smith, is unbeaten in 21 fights. He beat Giovanni De Carolis in a rematch for the WBA title, after they drew their first fight, and has since defended it against Isaac Ekpo.
