The former undisputed heavyweight world champion has agreed to work with Price, who suffered his first defeat as a professional at the hands of veteran Thompson in February.
The British and Commonwealth champ and regular trainer Franny Smith will fly to Canada next week to begin work with Lewis, who was accompanied to his world titles by Price's manager Frank Maloney.
Price said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to be able to work with one of the greatest heavyweights of all time and I'm sure his knowledge will prove to be invaluable."
Lewis famously avenged his only two pro defeats - to Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman - and beat Evander Holyfield in a rematch after their first contest ended in a draw.
He said: "David is a dedicated fighter. He takes his training seriously and is single-minded in wanting to avenge that defeat. As a fighter I understand that and want to help him towards his goal."
