George Groves can banish his Wembley woes when he returns against Christopher Rebrasse in a final WBC title eliminator on September 20.

The Londoner suffered a crushing defeat against bitter rival Carl Froch in the national stadium, but will head to Wembley Arena for his crucial comeback clash.

George Groves to return

Victory over Rebrasse will earn 'Saint George' a shot at the WBC super-middleweight belt, currently held by Sakio Bika, who defends against Anthony Dirrell on August 16.

Groves signed for Sauerland promotions ahead of his rematch with Froch and has remained in world contention, despite failing to take the WBA and IBF belts from 'The Cobra'.

The Hammersmith man was halted by a huge right hand in the eighth round, paying the price for a defensive lapse, and hopes to exorcise his demons when he returns to the capital.

"It is great to be back at Wembley and back to world-class boxing," he said. "Last time I was here it didn't go as well as I would've hoped but I think I have proved I belong here.

"Sometimes it takes just one punch and that is what ended my ambition to be world champion back in May but we are back on the road - the journey will continue.

"Win this fight and I am back in the picture, that is vitally important - I can't wait to be world champion and it will happen in the near future. It is good to be back in boxing and back in at the deep end."

His French opponent, the European champion, has a respectable record with 22 wins and just two defeats, but has not fought at the same level as Groves.

Aside from the two Froch defeats, Groves holds wins over James DeGale, Glen Johnson and Paul Smith.
