Froch-Groves II: IBF sanctions big fight as both men make second-day weight limit
The IBF title officially will be on the line tonight after Carl Froch and George Groves made weight this morning.
Last Updated: 31/05/14 4:31pm
Both were inside the super-middleweight 168lbs limit on Friday, but IBF rules stipulate boxers cannot gain more than 10lbs between the initial check and a second weigh-in on the morning of the fight.
Froch, who is defending his IBF and WBA belts in the Sky Sports Box Office show, tipped the scales at 176.2lbs while Groves weighed in at 175.4lbs.
Those statistics mean the IBF will officially sanction British boxing's biggest post-war contest - and the winner will leave Wembley with the title.
Earlier on Saturday Kevin Mitchell came in above the limit ahead of his lightweight fight with Ghislain Maduma on the Froch-Groves undercard.
The Londoner gained 12lbs overnight and, although the fight goes ahead, Mitchell will not automatically be given a shot at the IBF title if he wins.
