Eddie Hearn feels Kell Brook will be facing an opponent who lives up to his billing as the "new Floyd Mayweather" when he takes on Errol Spence Jr on Saturday night.

IBF welterweight world champion Brook will defend his belt in front of his hometown supporters at Bramall Lane, live on Sky Sports Box Office, against an opponent with a record of 21 wins from 21 contests.

As a result, Spence has drawn comparisons with the legendary Mayweather, with whom he sparred during the early stages of his professional career.

Hearn can also see such similarities and is relishing the prospect of Brook testing himself in what he believes will be a clash of two of the sport's best active fighters.

"This is what he [Brook] wanted," Hearn told Sky Sports News HQ. "We had the opportunity to have this fight in London, in America, but he wanted it at Bramall Lane in front of his people.

"We know how tough this fight is. The bookies have made Errol Spence the favourite and that is huge for an American fighter travelling to someone's back yard.

"That's because he's a very good fighter. He's been seen as the new Floyd Mayweather in the division.
