WICKET! Sangakarra c Umar Akmal b Shahid Afrid 23 (33). Is that the death knell? Sangakarra chases a wide delivery and the googly clips the toe of the bat. Akmal takes a good catch standing up, albeit at the second grab. Afridi 3-0-14-1.
Chandimal is down the track to Hafeez, and lofting him for a straight six. Hafeez ends his spell with more than 50 runs to his name, but in the context of a required rate of over 6 from the start that is more than satisfactory. Hafeez 10-0-52-1.
Some rebuilding needed here for Sri Lanka, but the asking rate is up to 8 to the over already. Afridi 2-0-13-0.
WICKET! K Perera lbw b Mohammad Hafeez 64 (68). Just as Perera looked to be regaining some momentum, he is trapped in front trying to play across the line. He calls the REVIEW, but the ball was shown to be hitting the top of off stump. Hafeez 9-0-41-1.
Perera was obviously waiting for Afridi, as he chops the first ball received from him over point for a long overdue boundary. The shot was hardly convincing, but Perera will not let that put him on track. Afridi 1-0-10-0.
The 100 comes up now, but still not too much aggression. Hafeez 8-0-39-0.
The required rate moves up to 7.5 as the spinners continue to spin their web from both ends. Ajmal 5-0-12-0.
The spinners are getting through the overs quickly, aided by the batsmen not hitting it off the square much at the moment. Hafeez 7-0-36-0.
Perera batting bare-headed now under the lights, and takes his time to get his eye back in after the drinks break. Ajmal 4-0-10-0.

Junaid drops a few short, and is duly punished by Perera. One false shot was a mistimed cut but it cleared the covers safely. Junaid 3-0-25-1.

WICKET! Dilshan c Mohammad Hafeez b Junaid Khan 30 (43). Dilshan got a shorter ball and whipped it hard and flat towards long leg, where Hafeez took a splendidly judged catch, diving to his left. Junaid 2-0-12-1.
All going swimmingly for the Sri Lankan openers, but they almost gave it away with a silly run out.as Perera came half way down the track. Saeed Ajmal 1-0-2-0.
Junaid Khan enters the attack, and a short ball to Perera ends up in the stands. Junaid 1-0-10-0.
The 50 comes up in the last over of the PowerPlay, and the openers are still at the crease. The run rate is still lagging the requirement, but a solid foundation is developing. Tanvir 5-0-25-0.
Perera takes the leading role at present, latching on to another back of a length delivery and whipping it away for another boundary. Hafeez 5-0-27-0.
This over does contain a boundary as Tanvir fires in one that is a bit short, and Perera whips it away to long leg. Tanvir 4-0-21-0.
Seven runs in the over without any risks. Not quite what the crowd would like to see, but a professional approach from Sri Lanka at this stage. Hafeez 4-0-20-0.
Dilshan also battling with his timing against the pace of Tanvir, but makes the most of a short ball to end the over, cutting it like a plash to backward point boundary. Tanvir 3-0-14-0.
Dilshan warms to his task with a strong sweep shot for the first boundary of the innings. Hafeez 3-0-13-0.
A mis-timed drive from Dilshan is the first real sign of aggression, after Perera had pushed nicely through the covers for three. Tanvir 2-0-8-0.
A good stop by Shehzad at point, but not clean and they can take a few runs. Hafeez 2-0-7-0.
Sohail Tanvir is also treated with great respect, but the Sri Lankans cannot afford to be too patient with this big target in front of them. Tanvir 1-0-4-0.
No surprise really as Mohammad Hafeez takes the new ball. The batsmen are content to play themselves in with a few singles. Hafeez 1-0-4-0.
Pakistan have finished with a massive total of 322, and will be confident of defending this successfully when play resumes shortly. Much of the innings hinged on Mohammad Hafeez, whose 7th ODI innings provided the backbone. There were flashy 50's from debutant Sharjeel Khan and another novice in Sohaib Maqsood, while Shahid Afridi provided some late fireworks with 34 off just 12 balls. It was a day to forget for the Sri Lankan bowlers. Lakmal took 2 wickets but at a fearful cost. Spinners Senanayake and Prasanna returned reasonable figures but were spared the carnage at the death as the seamers took a pounding. The target of 323 will need to be chased at a shade under 6.5 to the over.
WICKET! Mohammad Hafeez c Chandimal b Lakmal 122 (129). A tired shot from Hafeez, dragging it to Chandimal on the circle at mid wicket. Lakmal finds two good deliveries to restrict the batsmen to singles off the last 2 balls after going for 2 boundaries earlier. Lakmal 10-0-73-2.
Malinga does well to restrict the batsmen to singles until Akmal gets an inside edge to fine leg as he backs away. Malinga 10-1-59-0,
WICKET! Shahid Afridi b Perera 34 (12). Afridi's cameo comes to an end as he exposes the stumps and is bowled - but not before a flick off the pads and a booming lofted cover drive that went all the way. Umar Akmal almost went first ball. He went for the scoop but there was a big shout for a catch at the wicket. Sri Lanka called the REVIEW, but the replay showed no contact with the glove. It did hit the pad, but was going well over the top. T Perera 6-0-53-1.
Dropped by Thirimanne! A difficult chance as Hafeez went on the pull, he had to dive forward but it slipped through the fingers. Malinga is still firing in those trademark yorkers, and just five singles after a rush of boundaries in recent overs. Malinga 9-1-49-0.
Afridi blazing away now, striking one over cover and then another huge hit over mid wicket. 18 off the over as Pakistan sprint towards the line. Lakmal 9-0-63-1.
Afridi is soon into his stride with a handsome cover drive, and plays a full toss neatly off his pads but can't get it to the rope. Malinga 8-1-44-0.
WICKET! Sohaib Maqsood run out (T Perera/Sangakarra) 73 (68). The end of the party for Maqsood. He started the over with a mighty blow over mid wicket, but could have been caught two balls later as he miscued a drive off a full toss. Hafeez played the last ball of the over to mid wicket. Maqsood turned for the second but was sent back, and failed to beat Thisara's throw. Senanayake 9-1-46-0.
HUNDRED! After inching his way towards the magical three figure mark, Hafeez puts his best foot forward and lofts a fuller delivery over wide long on to raise his seventh ODI century off 111 balls, 7 fours 3 sixes. Lakmal 8-0-45-1.
Pakistan are charging now as Maqsood makes some room and dispatches the ball well over mid wicket, following up with a sweetly timed back foot drive. Senanayake 8-1-36-0.
FIFTY! Maqsood pushes one down the ground to go to his fifty off 56 balls. He allows hiself a more expansive shot off the next ball he faces, but can't beat the field. Hafeez does beat a diving Malinga at long leg to end the over in style as he moves into the nervous 90's. Lakmal 7-0-37-1.
Maqsood edges ever closer to his 50, but Hafeez opens up with a big drive for four. The next ball should not have reached the rope, but some poor fielding allowed it through. T Perera 5-0-41-0.
Back to ones and twos mode as Lamal returns to the attack. Lakmal 6-0-30-1.
Prasanna returns, and Maqsood celebrates the end of the PowerPlay by smiting his first ball high over the mid wicket boundary, his first boundary since the 30th over. Hafeezalso reaches the boundary with a cover drive that beats the diving sweeper. Presanna 8-0-39-1.
The PowerPlay is done, producing just 25 runs and a single boundary hit. Did someone forget to tell the batsmen it was the time for outrageous hitting? Malinga 7-1-35-0.
DRINKS are called for as Pakistan continue to pick off the singles. Senanayake 7-1-22-0.
Malinga continues to fire them in on a yorker length, not giving the batsmen many options. Malings 6-1-31-0.
Hafeez plays his first shot in anger in some cane, scything the ball over mid wicket for the maximum. Senanayake 6-1-18-0/
The POWER PLAY has been taken a little earlier than compulsory, and Malinga is back to bowl it. The 50 partnership comes up. Malinga 5-1-26-0.
Hafeez is really battling to get the ball away, despite having spent some time at the crease now Prasanna 7-0-26-1.

An easy swing of the arms and Maqsood sends one comfortably over the head of the man at long on. He almost holed out to long off earlier in the over. Prasanna 6-0-22-1.
A misfield off the first ball of a new Mathews spell will not best please the captain, and the next ball is sweetly driven through the covers as Maqsood starts to assert himself. mathews 5-0-29-0.
Prasanna is not giving anything away, and again jsut 2 singles in that over. Prasanna 5-0-14-1.
Malinga keeps it full and straight, and just a couple of singles eventuate. Malinga 4-1-22-0.
Prasanna returns, also with a change of ends, and dries up Hafeez. Eventually the batsman pushes one down to long on to reach his 50 off 68 balls with 3 fours and a six. Prasanna 4-0-12-1.
Malinga is back and is looking for those legendary inswinging yorkers. Not too easy a proposition for the new batsman, and he fails to take any advantage of a full toss. Malinga 3-1-19-0.

WICKET! Sharjeel Khan c Senanayake b Prasanna 61 (61). Prasanna tosses one up, and Sharjeel goes after it but it goes higher than he wanted and taken by the tall Senanayake back on the rope at long off. Sharjeel is the 8th Pakistani to score 50 on ODI debut. Prasanna mars the good work by firing one down the leg side to concede 5 wides. Prasanna 3-0-11-1.
Better over from Dilshan, just singles until Hafeez dabs the last ball past the keeper. Dilshan 2-0-19-0.
Better control from Prasanna, and just 2 singles added there. Prasanna 2-0-4-0.
Hafeez starting to play some big shots now as well, mixing some well timed cover drives with a powerful drive over the long on boundary. Dilshan 1-0-13-0.
Dropped catch by Thisara Perera as Sharjeel lofts it wide of him at long off. He made some ground to his right and put in the dive, but it slipped out of his grasp as the elbow hit the ground. Prasanna 1-0-2-0.

FIFTY! Sharjeel Khan advances down the track and lofts it away for his 5th four, to go with 3 sixes. The fifty has come up off just 46 balls, and that shot also completed the 50 partnership. Senanayake 5-1-10-0.

Some fortunate runs for Hafeez as he takes a tight single but the ball deflects away from the stumps after a direct hit, gifting him two more. Mathews 2-0-6-0.
Big over there as Sharjeel drives down the ground, one bounce for four; the next goes all the way. Perera drops the third short and that disappears over the square leg region for a second six. T Perera 2-0-20-0.

A silky cover drive gets Hafeez off the mark, and then he too walks across his stumps - but gets enough bat on it to post a second consecutive boundary. Lakmal 5-0-26-1.
Another probing over from Senanayake, and it is a maiden as Sharjeel does not want to take a risk so soon after losing his partner. Senanayake 2-1-1-0.
WICKET! Ahmed Shehzad lbw b Lakmal 11 (22). Shehzad moves across his stumps and is trapped in front. He eventually decides to call for the review, but is told by the umpires that he has missed the 15 second deadline and the chance to call for the review has gone. Not that it would have helped him - the replay indicates that that delivery satisfied all the conditions for the award of an LBW decision. Lakmal 4-0-16-1.
The off spinner enters the attack and finds a good line and length immediately. Shehzad nudges the last ball into a gap on the leg side to deny him a maiden. Senanayake 1-0-1-0.
Sharjeel banged another short ball through square leg, but had to survive an LBW shout. It did look rather high and there was no review. Lakmal 3-0-14-0.
An eventful over as Sharjeel was unsure of whether to duck the first ball or play it. It brushed his shoulder but the vociferous appeal for a catch at the wicket was denied. The next one ended up on the roof of the stand as Malinga went short again. A leg side delivery was helped to fine leg, and then he played one from off stump through wide fine leg for a third boundary. The over ended with an inside edge, and some dented pride for the champion fast bowler. Malinga 2-1-16-0.
Sharjeel chops one into the ground as he ctus off the bottome edge, but Shehzad ends the over with a beautifully timed on drive that was no more than a push. Lakmal 2-0-9-0.

A tidy opening over from Lakmal. The pitch, from some angles, looks like polished marble and there are even reflections on the stumps and the batsmen. Very unusual. Lakmal 1-0-2-0.
Pakistan have retained the promising opening batsman Sharjeel Khan, who will make his ODI debut. Misbah is of course back at the helm today. Sri Lanka will be taking the field without the experienced Nuwan Kulasekara, and there is no place today in the 50 over format for Ajatha Mendis.
