India will host Pakistan in two Twenty20 internationals and three one-dayers later this year, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashraf has confirmed.

Pakistan have not toured India for almost five years after cricket ties were broken following the Mumbai terror attack in 2008 in which 166 people were killed.

The limited-overs series between the two nations will start on Christmas Day and be contested in between India's Test and one-day series against England.

PCB chairman Ashraf labelled the series as a "revival of friendship" between the two sub-continent arch-rivals and a step forward, despite the fact it was Pakistan's turn to host its neighbour.

"It's neither India's series nor it's Pakistan's series, it's a series to revive friendship," he said.

Bangalore and Ahmedabad will host the Twenty20 games while Chennai, Kolkata and Delhi will host the ODIs. There will be no match at Mumbai.

"We will send a delegation prior to the tour to see the security arrangements," Ashraf added.
