Ireland v West Indies Live

West Indies win by 44 runs The West Indies juggernaut rolls on as they claim their third successive victory. This win was set up by Devon Smith and Kieron Pollard. The duo powered the Windies to 275. Darren Sammy and Sulieman Benn then did the damage with the ball as Ireland collapsed to 231 all out. Thank you for your company. You are welcome to hang around for the England-Bangladesh commentary. Cheers.

Over 49 Benn 1-1-1-1-0-W 231-10 - Russell is still off the field after overstretching while fielding a couple of overs earlier. Ireland are determined to see out the 50 overs here. Unfortunately they fail as Dockrell loses his wicket after going for a swing across the line.

Over 48 Roach 0-0-0-1-0-1 227-9 - Can Roach finish things up for the Windies here. He's chasing that top wickettaker award. He's looking for the full and straight balls, but Rankin keeps the first two out and then pushes it to the leg side for a single.

Over 47 Benn 1-0-4-0-4-0 225-9 - Dockrell goes over the top again. It's a teaser for the man running back from cover, but the ball wins. Play gets held up as the fielder, Russell, requires treatment. Four more for Dockrell as he squeezes it past backward point.

Over 46 Roach 0-0-4-1-W-1 216-9 - Roach looked like he was struggling with a knock in his previous over, but he will continue. Dockrell lofts it over extra cover for a boundary. WICKET! Full and straight and Mooney has to depart. It went onto his stumps via deflection off his pads. Boyd Rankin is the last man and he squeezes a full one down to third man for one.

Over 45 Benn 0-1-4-1-0-1 210-8 - Final throw of the dice for Ireland as they take the Powerplay. They should've taken it when Joyce and Wilson were going so well. Dockrell digs out a fuller one for one. Mooney gets four with the reverse paddle.

Over 44 Roach 1-0-0-W-1-1 203-8 - Roach is back in the attack. Can he finish things off for the West Indies? Mooney takes one to the man patrolling the cover boundary. Another one bites the dust. Botha pushes it hard to mid-off and he's partner is already halfway down the track. He is forced to go for the run, but Sammy picks it up cleanly and hits the stumps.

Over 43 Benn 0-W-0-0-0-wd-0 200-7 - Benn returns. WICKET! Ireland are crumbling now. Cusack is down the track and looks to work it to the leg side, but he misses the ball. The keeper fumbles it, but Cusack is so far down the track that he has plenty of time to whip off the bails. Andre Botha sees out the rest of the over.

Over 42 Sammy 1-1-0-W-0-0 199-6 - Sammy continues to mix it up nicely. He's been the Windies' most economical bowler today. Inquiry for lbw, but it's going down leg. WICKET! Bigger shout next time and this time the umpire sticks Wilson. The batsman wants it reviewed though. He was looking to pad up and it hit him on the pads. Replays show it hit him just outside the line and Wilson thinks it should be overturned, but the umpire sticks to his original decision. Wilson stands his ground, but the umpire won't change his mind and he eventually has to depart. The batsman wasn't offering a shot and that's probably why the umpire decided not to overturn his orginal decison. The UDRS is becoming more and more controversial by the day. John Mooney can't get a single and that means Sammy finishes with three for 31 in his 10.

Over 41 Pollard 0-1-0-4-0-1 197-5 - Cusack is up and running with a fllick through midwicket. Wilson is keeping Ireland in touch here. He goes over extra cover for a boundary.

Over 40 Sammy 2-1-1-W-0-4 191-5 - Sammy, who started the day with three maidens in a row, returns. Starts with a shortish one and it's pulled. The man on the boundary plays a juggling act on the ropes and manages to keep it down to a couple. WICKET! Massive, massive wicket as Kevin O'Brien is forced to depart after failing to get hold of a slower one. He looks to play it over the infield, but he skies it. Pollard runs in from long-on and dives forward to take an excellent catch. That really was special from the big man. Alex Cusack is the new man but he's not facing. Wilson continues to fight and he cracks it through midwicket for four.

Over 39 Pollard 1-1-1-1lb-1-1 183-4 - Pollard, who went for 21 in his three overs, comes back into the attack. He needs to bring that run rate down. Wilson steers it short third for one. Pollard outfoxes O'Brien with a slower one. It goes over the bowler's head though. Wilson goe sto 50 off 52b, 4x4, 1x6 with a push into the covers.

Over 38 Russell 0-0-W-0-0-0 177-4 - Wilson has taken up the aggressor role with Joyce probably the one to bat through the innings. Good combination at the moment. Russell drags things back for the Windies after Miller's poor over. WICKET! Full from Russell and Joyce looks to flick it through square leg, but he misses the ball and it crashes into his stumps. Man of the moment Kevin O'Brien is greeted with a bouncer that's down the leg side. O'Brien takes a blow on the side off the final ball. It's a wicket-maiden from Russell.

Over 37 Miller 2-2-4-4-0-2 177-3 - Wilson paddles it around the corner for a couple. After another couple, Wilson picks up back-to-back fours with the reverse sweep. Ireland are really stepping it up now. The pressure is really on the Windies now. The over ends with a couple through midwicket.

Over 36 Russell 1-2-3-0-0-0 163-3 - The Ireland batsmen look like they are ready go up one gear here. Both players try something unconventional by using their feet. Wilson flicks one through midwicket and gets three. Good comeback from Russell as he keeps it full.

Over 35 Miller 1-0-1-1-0-6 157-3 - How quickly things can change! Wilson was struggling early in the over, battling to get the ball away so he decides the best medicine for that is simply to bring out a massive slog sweep that clears the fence!

Over 34 Russell 1-0-1-1-0-0 148-3 - For the second time Benn gets down well on the fence to cut off a boundary, Joyce had slashed the ball down to third man and other bowlers wouldn't ave stopped that. Solid stuff from Russell, he's looked good on debut.

Over 33 Miller 0-0-0-0-1-1 145-3 - Miller fires in a hosts of full deliveries and before you know it the over is nearly through. Wilson and Joyce manage to pick up a single apiece to ensure there is some scoring.

Over 32 Russell 1-0-0-0-0-4 143-3 - Superb placement from Joyce as he threads the ball through the covers for four. Wow, that really was an elegant looking shot.

Over 31 Miller 0-4-1-1-0-0 138-3 - Slightly short from Miller and Joyce pounces, pulling away for four to bring up the fifty stand. With the boundary from the over the Irish pair can afford to just pick off a couple more singles. The partnership is now worth 52 from 60 balls and it's kept Ireland very much in this contest with Kevin O'Brien still to come.

Over 30 Pollard 1-1-1-2-1-0 132-3 - So, Joyce gets a life and continues his march towards three figures with a characteristic collection of ones and a stunning cover drive which brings a couple.

Over 29 Miller 1-2-1-1-1-0 126-3 - Sulieman Benn is being followed about the field today, not a bad thing if you're Irish. The tall West Indies has however managed a clean pick-up and throw on the cover fence this time as Wilson picks two more. DROPPED! That's a very catchable chance for the bowler who enticed Joyce into spooning it straight back to him. Miller though has snatched at the catch and put's it down, that could be costly.

Over 28 Pollard 0-2-2-1-0-0 120-3 - Joyce steers to thirdman for two and then plays the identical stroke but in front of square for two more. Both those shots went close to the point fielder - Darren Sammy it is there - and more agility and a committed dive could definitely have saved a couple of runs.

Over 27 Miller 0-0-2-1-0-0 115-3 - The sixth bowler is into the attack now with Nikita Miller given a go. Great mohawk from the little left-armer, not a bad start with the ball either with just three runs to Joyce as the required rate heads up towards seven per over.

Over 26 Pollard 4-wd-1-0-0-0-4 112-3 - Kieron Pollard has shrugged off his blow to the knee and is into the attack, not a great start though with a leg side delivery flicked for four and then a wide to follow. An edge off the final delivery gives Wilson four more - ten runs coming from Pollard's first.

Over 25 Benn 0-1-0-0-0-0 102-3 - Just the solitary single from the over, a single which brings a half-century up for Ed Joyce. It's his fourth in ODI cricket and has come off 67 deliveries. Imortant he bats through if Ireland are to have a chance here.

Over 24 Roach 0-0-0-1-0-3 101-3 - Roach is pushing up to 150km/h now, too quick outside off stump for Gary Wilson for whom Sammy has brought in the slip. After three dot balls Wilson pulls away for a single to deep square leg and Joyce does the same for three more.

Over 23 Benn 1-1-1-0-1-2 97-3 - Finally we have a right-handed Irishman at the crease, and for him Benn has a slip in place but bowls to short and Wilson is able to cut away for one. Kieron Pollard meanwhile is feeling at his knee again, he took a ball to the cap earlier and now he's laned awkwardly in the field on that same right knee - possible that is keeping him out of the bowling attack.

Over 22 Roach 0-0-0-1-4-0 91-3 - Sammy has made a positive move here, he's out of the attack after eight straight overs and he's brought back his strike man Kemar Roach who nearly has Joyce in trouble, the mistimed pull looping out on the bounce to deep square leg. Gary Wilson receives an attempted yorker first up but it's slightly overpitched and he's off the mark with four runs clipped fine.

Over 21 Benn 0-0-0-1-0-W 86-3 - A better spell this so far than his opening effort, Benn traps O'Brien on the pads and despite the appeals it's given not out, a decision enforced by the tv umpire upstairs. BOWLED! Not to worry for the West Indies, Benn's got his man with the very next delivery as O'Brien is beaten by the length and it's ripped back and knocked into off stump. That's a big wicket because the Irish number four was looking comfortable.

Over 20 Sammy 1-1-1-0-2-0 85-2 - Sammy stays around the wicket and the Irish pair are more than happy to nurdle him around for ones as they continue to build their partnership. Suileman Benn's being kept in the action in the field, picked on for a single at mid on and then the lanky left-hander has to clean up at long on after a misfield from extra cover gifts two runs - much to Sammy displeasure.

Over 19 Benn 0-2-1-0-1-0 80-2 - Big Sulieman Benn returns, hoping for more control than he showed in his opening spell. The Windies still have Nikita Miller as a spinning option as well as Kieron Pollard's medium pace. O'Brien meanwhile has looked fluent so far and picks up two more on the drive.

Over 18 Sammy 1-0-1-1-0-1 76-2 -Sammy continues into his seventh over and it might well be time for a bowling change. The only change the West Indian captain is making for now though is his approach to the wicket, coming around the stumps to the left-handed Joyce who uses the angle to tuck to fine leg for a single. Four singles from the over and as long as Ireland keep wickets in hand then we have a game on our hands.

Over 17 Russell 0-1-2-nb-2-1lb-1 72-2 - O'Brien clubs over midwicket but there's a fielder out there so it's just a couple. Russell follows up with a no ball, the resultant free hit is a full toss but O'Brien can only pitch out to mid-wicket area for another two runs. The Irish wicketkeeper gets a ball to the arm after missing misreading the pace of a bouncer but there's a leg-bye followed by one to Joyce who's on to 35.

Over 16 Sammy 0-1-4-0-1-1 64-2 - Four more! O'Brien again cuts hard but this time behind square to beat a diving Russell at fine leg. The Irish are just starting to get the momentum going again and for that it's a key period now in the game for both sides. And that's drinks.

Over 15 Russell 0-0-0-1-0-4 57-2 - The debutant Russell is doing a great job mixing things up with a change of pace keeping Joyce quiet. The Irish number three does eventually manage a single and the over loses it's gloss after O'Brien powers a cut shot in front of square for four!

Over 14 Sammy 0-0-1-1-2-0 The keeper's up, slips in but O'Brien avoids then both, as does Joyce, with singles to thirdman. O'Brien then punches off the back foot for two to the leg side in an over which ruins Sammy's miserly figures somewhat.

Over 13 Russell 1-0-0-1-0-4 48-2 - Andre Russell is not lighting fast at 136km/h, but his quick enough and aggressive enough to have Niall O'Brien ducking a bouncer. Russell has used the short ball consistently through his spell so far, just to mix things up and keep the batsmen guessing. O'Brien gets off the mark with one to thirdman before Joyce, who by now has his eye in, latches onto a half-tracker to pull handsomely away for four.

Over 12 Sammy 0-0-0-1-0-W 42-2 - 22 balls it took for Darren Sammy to concede a run here, Joyce steering down to thirdman for one. OUT! It just had to happen didn't it, the pressure became too great for Porterfield and the Irish skipper has spooned a tame catch up to mid off - the West Indies in charge.

Over 11 Russell 0-1-0-0-0-0 41-1 - Ed Joyce manages a single to square leg, and Porterfield goes on the hook but gets a ball to the helmet instead with just one coming from the over as runs continue to be a challenge for the Irish.

Over 10 Sammy 0-0-0-0-0-0 40-1 - Dropped! Porterfield gets a life from Ramnaresh Sarwan at short cover, an uppish drive just dropping out of Sarwan's clutches. Quite remarkably Sammy completes a third straight maiden, he's given absolutely nothing away and set his own field accordingly.

Over 9 Russell 0-0-4-0-0-0 40-1 - A little shuffles and Ed Joyce breaks the shackles with a well-timed stroke through midwicket for four. Once it's beaten the infield that's always four on this outfield. A slip and short cover in catching, and Russell responds well with a bouncer and then good length deliveries outside off to end the over.

Over 8 Sammy 0-0-0-0-0-0 36-1 - The runs have all but dried up, Darren Sammy bowling another maiden over to Porterfield. The pressure's building on Ireland and they'll have to find a way to start rotating the strike again.

Over 7 Russell 0-0-1-0-0-0 36-1 - Another double bowling change with Andre Russell opening his account with a miserly first over, conceding just a single which Porterfield collects down to fine leg.

Over 6 Sammy 0-0-0-0-0-0 35-1 - After 2 overs for 20 runs skipper Darren Sammy has seen enough of Sulieman Benn for now, and brings himself into the attack. Over the wicket to the left-handed Joyce he's right on the money and completes a maiden over.

Over 5 Roach 0-4-0-0-4-0 35-1 - Roach is bowling full and fast as is his want, but straight on this occasion with Porterfield capitalising through square leg, the lighting fast outfield taking the ball to the fence. Again overpitched on the pads and the Irish skipper has four more through midwicket! A drive to point then doesn't bring runs but it's incapacitated Kieron Pollard at least for a short while with the Windies allrounder taking a ball to the knee. He's in pain, but is tough enough to walk it off.

Over 4 Benn 0-1-0-2-0-wd-4 27-1 - A gentle touch into the leg side brings Ed Joyce a couple, Benn chucks in a wide, and then Joyce strokes an elegant boundary through extra cover with Benn overpitching for the third time to the left-hander. This might be putting thew mockers on him, but Ed Joyce is looking like it's his day.

Over 3 Roach 1-0-0-0-4-0 19-1 - One to Porterfield who tucks through midwicket for a single. Joyce then gets caught in front but he's saved by an inside edge and the left-hander profits with a leg side delivery clipped fine for four. Ed Joyce is working in multiples of four here.

Over 2 Benn 0-4-0-W-4-4 14-1 - Paul Stirling starts aggressively against Sulieman Benn with a step down the track and a clean hit over extra cover for four. OUT! Benn gets immediate revenge, a small inside edge looping off Stirling's pads and up to slip where Darren Sammy claims the catch. Ed Joyce is then given a kick-start by the left-arm spinner with two half-volleys driven away to the fence.

Over 1 Roach 0-1-0-1-0-0 2-0 - Kemar Roach ambles up and then explodes at the crease, quite remarkable that his low intensity run up produces such extreme pace. Both batsmen get off the mark with singles - Porterfield edging down to third man - in what is a tidy start for Roach.

And we're back Not a long break at all and the players are back with Kemar Roach looking to add to his World Cup tally.

Ireland require 276 for the win The West Indies will be fairly pleased with their efforts if not ecstatic. Two men did the majority of the work with Devon Smith hitting his first ODI ton to keep the innings together before Kieron Pollard's typical knock of 94 down the order. For Ireland Kevin O'Brien was expensive but claimed 4 for 71, while Boyd Rankin was probably the pick with 1 for 35 in his ten. George Dockrell meanwhile was strangely only afforded three overs. So, the West Indies all out for 275, Ireland will be quietly confident of chasing down the target while the Windies have much faith in their bowling line-up. We'll be back in about 25 minutes to take you through what should be an intriguing chase.

Over 50 Botha 0- 275 all out - Andre Botha is the man to finish off for the Irish and he's got Niall O'Brien standing up to the stumps. RUN OUT! Miller drills a chance back to the bowler who puts it down but the Windies attempt to make two runs out of it has Sulieman Benn caught short of his ground the combination of Mooney and Botha. There are three more singles and then the innings comes to an end with Kemar Roach caught at point off the final delivery.

Over 49 Mooney W-W-1-1-1-1 271-8 - OUT! That's the end of Pollard who's gone for 94. He hit down the ground but for once could clear the fielder with Rankin taking a tidy catch. BOWLED! It's two in two with Andre Russell's stumps re-arranged. Sulieman Benn avoids the hat-trick with a square drive and he and his spin partner Nikita Miller will take whatever they can scramble together from these last over and a half - singles will do for now, all four of them.

Over 48 K O'Brien 1-2-4-6-6-1 267-6 - Russell does what's required and hands the strike to his batting partner who pillages two through extra cover and then powers down the ground for four, beating the man at long off. SIX! This man is an absolute powerhouse! He smacks a slower bouncer over midwicket for a flat six and then whacks an even bigger hit over square leg for another. It's an almost perfect over for the Windies with Pollard retaining strike thanks to a single from the final ball of the over.

Over 47 Rankin 0-1-0-0-1-4 247-6 - The life of a fast bowler, Doyd Rankin has produced a great over that's been spoiled off the last delivery with Pollard finding the outside edge for four. That end Rankin's ten with commendable figures of 1 for 35. Remarkably George Dockrell has only bowled three overs today.

Over 46 Mooney 1-0-1-4-6-1 241-6 - Andre Russell knows how to hit a long ball but he starts with a single and leaves it to Pollard to first muscle over midwicket for four and then he powers a pull over the leg side fence for six! That's just put the innings back on track, and also taken Pollard to a new ODI highest score.

Over 45 Rankin 0-1-0-1-0-W 228-5 - Frustrating times for Kieron Pollard who is being starved of the strike somewhat. OUT! Rankin adds a wicket to his three dot balls in the over, Thomas tries to make something happen but all he manages is to edge straight to Niall O'Brien behind the stumps.

Over 44 Mooney 1-0-0-0-1-2 226-5 - Ireland choose to use their second review after Devon Thomas is struck on the pad. Asoka de Silva is the umpire but still, that review makes no sense, he's clearly outside the line and only the bowler was appealing. The decision is upheld and Thomas drives the next delivery away for a single to get off the mark. The Pollard effect is kept to just a couple of runs off the outside edge to end the over.

Over 43 K O'Brien 1-0-W-4-0-W 222-5 - OUT! Devon Smith tries to be clever with a shuffle inside the line and he's been bowled around his legs. Fantastic knock, he's on his way for 107 runs from 133 deliveries. New man Darren Sammy is gifted a boundary first up thanks to leg side rubbish from O'Brien who then repeats the half-tracker on leg stump and Sammy holes out to fine leg! OUT The skipper's got something of a top edge which has sailed straight to the man on the fence.

Over 42 Mooney 2-1-2-1-wd-1-0 217-3 - Pollard goes to fifty! The fourth fastest half-century of the tournament so far off 35 balls. He's got there with two through midwicket and Smith then finds a couple through cover, driving with an open face. Mooney's luck is up with a wide called when he could well have gotten away with it and then Pollard cues a toe-ended shot into the turf and over the stumps. Smith is then struck on the pad and given not out but the Irish go for the review - unsuccessfully with impact taking place outside the line.

Over 41 K O'Brien 1-4-1-1-4-1 209-3 - Pollard bags another boundary, this one fortunate via the outside edge. He then takes what is effectively a quick single to mid off thanks to the power of the shot before shovelling a slowerball on the bounce to the midwicket fence. Kieron Pollard is fast taking over here and the Irish will be fearful of things getting away from them in these next nine overs.

Over 40 Botha 1-4-2-0-1-1 197-3 - Botha goes leg side, allowing Pollard the chance to tickle fine for four. The Irish fielding has slipped dramatically with Cusack the latest to commit an error - sliding too early to gather as the ball ran towards the fence. A hoick over midwicket and a couple of singles means it's 55 runs gathered from the batting Powerplay. The Windies have played themselves into the ascendancy in the last five overs.

Over 39 Rankin 1-1-4-4-1-1 188-3 - Porterfield is shuffling his bowlers around in this powerplay, and protecting Dockrell at the same time. Smith's single takes him to 99 before Pollard muscles a short of a length delivery through midwicket for four. That's the fifty partnership and Pollard then pumps four more, a near-yorker hit down the ground. Smith gets back on strike and cuts with a misfield allowing the single and that's his maiden ODI hundred! It's come from 124 balls and kept this innings together.

Over 38 Botha 1-2-0-1-4-1 176-3 - Botha's back and Smith wisely takes a single from the first delivery to give his hard-hitting mate the strike. Dropped! Pollard gets a massive leading edge which gets plenty of air - Wilson hares round behind the bowler to take the catch but he fumbles and Pollard gets a let off. Another fielding error - this time from Sterling - gives Smith four through point.

Over O'Brien 0-6-0-0-0-6 166-3 - SIX! Pollard gives Kevin O'Brien some of his own medicine with a nonchalant flick over the midwicket fence. The big West Indian then looks for a single immediately and after being sent back by Smith he's fortunate to survive as Mooney's shy from square leg goes inches wide of the stumps. O'Brien follows up well with a short ball but then BOOM! Another six from Pollard to end the over - he's had two scoring shots in the over and they've both yielded the maximum.

Over 36 Mooney 1-4-0-wd-1-1-4 154-3 - It's Powerplay time! Earlier than expected from the West Indies but they need a scoring boost and the next five overs are certain to either make or break this Windies innings. John Mooney's into the attack and hit down the ground by Pollard - it's just the single with long off back and the Irish will be looking to keep Pollard playing straight. Smith then charges down the track and finds the midwicket fence, with his footwork prompting Niall O'Brien to stand up to the stumps. The second wide of the innings and a leg side offering swatted four by Smith mean that the first over of the Powerplay yields 12 runs.

Over 35 Rankin 1-0-1lb-1-1-0 142-3 - Rankin is doing some exceptional work, the discipline of the Irish bowlers is a real example for the other Associate nations - they're getting the basics right. The Windies pair take four singles and are just feeling their way into this partnership.

Over 34 Dockrell 2-1-0-wd-1-1-1 138-3 - Pollard against Dockrell is an enticing contest but the Irishman starts a little short and Pollard cuts away for two before pushing down the ground for one. The left-arm spinner then strays down the leg side and it's remarkably the first wide of the Irish innings. A trio of singles keep the scoreboard ticking over and that's all these two have to do at this stage, just keep collecting as many ones and twos as possible without taking major risks.

Over 33 Rankin 0-0-0-0-1-0 131-3 - Enter one Kieron Pollard, can he reproduce the fireworks of the Dutch game? Not against Boyd Rankin he can't with four dot balls inducing a wild swing and thick edge to third man from the West Indian allrounder. Smith comes close to chopping on from the final delivery and that's a fantastic over conceding just the single.

Over 32 Dockrell 1-2-1-0-0-W 130-3 - Smith comes down the track and throws the kitchen sink at it, he doesn't connect properly and the ball slices over short third man for two. Wicket1 Great bowling and captaincy there as Dockrell continues to give the ball some air despite being under attack and it pays dividends and Sarwan comes down the track once more put he can't get hold of it and deposits the ball down Mooney's throat at long on.

Over 31 Botha 1-4-1-0-1-1 126-2 - This is more like it, this pair are making a concerted effort to up the tempo and it's paying some dividends as Sarwan smashes the ball over mid on for four.

Over 30 Dockrell 0-4-0-1-0-0 118-2 - It's time for Dockrell at last! Smith comes down the track and heaves the ball over midwicket for four, it wasn't totally convincing but a good sign. Can Dockrell meet the challenge?

Over 29 Botha 1-0-0-3-1-1 113-2 - Another bowling change and it's still not Dockrell! Sorry to be harping on about it but it's quite strange that he hasn't appeared yet. It's Botha who is back. Smith cuts to deep point and some good running sees them get through for two, but a direct hit makes things interesting. Smith is home and they manage to pick up an overthrow as the ball cannons off the stumps.

Over 28 Cusack 0-lb-0-lb-4-0 107-2 - A good shout for lbw as Smith is rapped on the pads trying to work the ball straight. Probably would have missed leg though. Cusack pays the price for straying on leg as Smith cutely clips him to the fine leg fence.

Over 27 O'Brien 2b-4-1-1-1-0 101-2 - A much better over for the Windies as Smith first survives a scare as he tries to cut but misses and the ball just misses leg stump. The opener makes the most of the chance by heaving the next ball over midwicket for four.

Over 26 Cusack 0-1-0-1-1lb-0 92-2 - Cusack returns. Still no sign of Dockrell strangely enough. Another solid over. Can Ireland apply the squeeze even further now?

Troubled times While the West Indies have been inching along slowly you always felt that Smith and Chanderpaul could be creating a platform from which to really explode. Those two wickets have change the complexion of things somewhat.

89-2 - A rare sight as a misfield from Rankin at long on allows Chanderpaul to pick up two. Wicket! Ireland have the breakthrough! It was a pitched up delivery on off and Chanderpaul drove at it and Porterfield at short cover takes a great catch diving forward! Wicket! Another one gone! A full delivery on middle and Bravo looks to butcher it down the ground but instead has his stumps disturbed!

Over 24 Stirling 0-0-1-5-2-0 87-0 - Frustrating for Stirling as Smith comes down the track and looks to loft the ball into the off side but he gets and inside edge that flies past the stumps and to the fine leg fence for four! Smith is showing some attacking intent here which is what is desperately needed.

Over 23 O'Brien 1-0-1-1-0-0 80-0 - O'Brien still has his rather ridiculous hair colouring, blonde with purple on top, kudos to him for taking the plunge for charity!

Over 22 Stirling 1-1-0-0-0-0 77-0 - A change of bowling with the off-spin of Paul Stirling introduced. Interesting that he's being given a run ahead of George Dockrell. Stirling begins with a couple of ropey deliveries but gets better and better, ending with some good balls fired into the block hole.

Over 21 O'Brien 1-0-0-1-0-1 75-0 - Key to Ireland's success thus far is that they haven't given Smith any room. He really likes to cut but with no width on offer he's having to find other ways to score runs and is struggling a touch.

Over 20 Botha 1-0-0-1-0-1 72-0 - Both gets a bit irritated as Smith drives the ball to mid off where Cusack is inside the circle but is still unable to prevent the single.

Over 19 K O'Brien 6-0-0-0-0-1 69-0 - Kevin O'Brien comes into the attack and Smith looks to assert himself on the new bowler straight away, heaving the first delivery over the long on fence for six! O'Brien recovers well though, making sure the over doesn't become too expensive.

Over 18 Botha 0-0-0-1-1-2 61-0 - Ireland only need four men inside the ring now that the powerplay overs are done and dusted, but Porterfield isn't prepared to give the batsmen an inch so he's keeping five or six men in the circle.

Over 17 Mooney 4-0-1-0-0-1 57-0 - Some much needed aggression shown by Smith as he comes down the track and flicks the ball wide of mid off for four. Time for a drinks break

Over 16 Botha 0-0-1-1-0-0 52-0 - Both batsmen are timing the ball quick well at the time, but the Irish are on their game and then men in the circle are doing well to cut everything off.

Over 15 Mooney 0-1-1-0-0-4 5-0 - The first short delivery of the day and it's punished with Smith pulling with aplomb. That's the Windies 50, just inside the powerplay overs.

Over 14 Botha 0-1-1-0-1-1 44-0 - It's easy to say with hindsight, but it would perhaps have been prudent to promote someone other than Chanderpaul to open. Smith is used to working it around while Gayle blasts away and Chanderpual is renowned for taking his time. The result is two men who aren't used to forcing the pace and they're struggling to do so.

Over 13 Mooney 0-0-0-1-1-0 40-0 - The great wicket to wicket bowling continues, this is really solid stuff from Porterfield's men.

Over 12 Botha 0-4-0-1-1-1 38-0 - A double change with Botha will be annoyed with that as Smith looks to heave the ball over mid on but instead gets an outside edge down to the third man fence. Seven from the over, the most expensive thus far.

Over 11 Mooney 1-1-0-0-1-0 31-0 - Time for a change with John Mooney replacing the impressive Rankin. Mooney continues on from the good work that came before him with another tight over. There have now been 50 dot balls in 11 overs! Not what you expect in the powerplays.

Over 10 Cusack 0-0-1-0-1-4 28-0 - Chanderpaul scampers through for a single to mid off. Dropped! A really tough chance to Paul Stirling goes down. Smith came down the track and looked to slash the ball through the covers, at full stretch Stirling gets his hands on it but can't hold on. Frustrating for Cusack as the next ball is clipped to the fine leg fence by Chanderpaul.

Over 9 Rankin 0-0-0-2-0-0 22-0 - Some great fielding from Dockrell at third man prevents a boundary with the youngster diving to his left to cut off a powerful slash from Smith.

Over 8 Cusack 1-0-0-0-0-0 20-0 - Despite the slow start don't be fooled into thinking that this is a bowler's wicket. There is good, true bounce and the outfield is a quick one. The hardest par is simply getting through the new ball period. Just a single to midwicket.

Over 7 Rankin 0-1b-1-0-1-0 19-0 - A fumble behind the stumps from Niall O'Brein allows the batsmen to scamper through for a bye. With the exception of that little blip the Irish continue to stand firm, sticking to their guns, not doing anything special, jsut keeping things tight.

Over 6 Cusack 0-0-0-1-0-4 16-0 - Smith is struggling to find the gaps in the infield, he's picking up the fielders with great regularity. No stopping Chanderpaul though as he whips the ball past the bowler for four.

Over 5 Rankin 2-4-0-0-0-0 11-0 - The first loose delivery from Rankin, on the pads and Chanderpual clips it to fine leg for two to get off the mare. The opener follows it up with a great drive wide of mid off for four.

Over 4 Cusack 0-0-0-4-0-0 5-0 - Clever thinking from Cusack here as he decides to go around the wicket to Smith, cutting down the room the opener has to move. It's no matter there though as Smith punches the ball through the covers for four. The ball races off the outfield, it looks a good one.

Over 3 Rankin 0-0-0-0-1-0 1-0 - The absence of Chris Gayle couldn't be any more evident here with the slow start. Smith eventually opens the West Indies' account with a singe to third man.

Over 2 Cusack 0-0-0-0-0-0 0-0 - In the absence of Trent Johnston it's Alex Cusack who will share the new ball with Rankin. Wow, this is great disciplined bowling from the Irish as Cusack follows Rankin's lead by producing a maiden!

Over 1 Rankin 0-0-0-0-0-0 0-0 - A good start for the Irish as Boyd Rankin produces a tight maiden to put the pressure on early.
