Eden Gardens, Kolkata
Ireland won by six wickets So ten Doeschate is on the losing end once again despite scoring a century, with Stirling upstaging him and O'Brien finishing things off. The Irish go home with two wins from six, while the Dutch head off empty handed. Two minnows leave to make way for the bigger games and from here on in, for today at least, you can fix your focus squarely to the clash on the go between the Kiwis and Sri Lankan in Mumbai.
Over 47.4 Seelaar 6-1-1-6 307-4 - Kevin O'Brien, the man who earlier in the tournament cranked the fastest ever World Cup century when the Irish upstaged England, slaps a massive six down the ground as the Fat Lady warms up and then has her belting out in Irish triumph with another six again straight down the ground.
Over 47 ten Doeschate 1-1-0-0-2-4 293-4 - Niall dances down the track to fetch an inside edge to fine-leg and with that arrives his half-ton. 53 balls to get there, including six fours. He's pretty much finishing what Stirling started and the Irish fans are indeed gearing up for fuel to their post-St Paddy's Day celebrations.
Over 46 Seelaar 0-0-0-0-1-1 285-4 - Kevin eventually gets the single away that gets him off the mark, with one of Seelaar's darts a bit rogue to the leg-side. That's about it for the over, with the Irish set to take this result at a canter bar a delightfully Dutch miracle.
Over 45 ten Doeschate 4-2-W-2-2-0 283-4 - Plenty of discussion on the go between captain and bowler as to where and how to set the fielders, with Ireland's batting Powerplay arriving right on cue. The five-over tactic is off to a good start for the side at the crease, with Wilson's ride through the line fetching him a fat edge past the wicketkeeper for four. A juicy full toss follows, but the left-hander can do nothing with it but plank it to sweeper cover. Wicket! The Dutch then snatch some momentary impetus back, with Wilson's heave across the line in a bid to go big over midwicket succeeding only in spooning a top edge high into the sky. Wicketkeeper Buurman gets under it in the short midwicket region, almost makes a mess of the catch, but ultimately hangs on on the dive forward. Relief for him. Glimmer of hope for the Netherlands. Kevin in now to join his brother Niall at the crease.
Over 44 Seelaar 0-0-0-1-2-0 273-3 - Spinner Seelaar is going to try his hand in what is, ostensibly, a last roll of the dice from the Dutch. The Irish duo are happy not to take any risks against Holland's best slow bowler of the day, merely knocking him around for the ones and twos on offer behind the wicket.
Over 43 Borren 1-4-0-4-1-1 270-3 - Rightly so, Cooper is yanked out of the attack as the captain gives himself the ball. O'Brien takes to the seamer straightaway, squirting four through the vacant thirdman berth thanks to a thick edge. He wanted it high and hard over long-on, but behind the wicket will do just fine too. Four jammed through point follows that and, having done enough for the over, the left-hander simply turns the strike over to his batting partner with a casual single dinked through the off-side. Ireland need 37 runs off 42 balls to win from here on in.
Over 42 Raja 1-1-0-0-1-1 259-3 - Raja offering very little flight now for fear of being tonked to the fences, instead darting in low, flat, full deliveries. Wilson and sidekick happy to nudge and nurdle the singles on offer, particularly straight down the ground. Chips rather than full-blooded strikes are enough to have the ball bounce just in front of long-on and -off.
Over 41 Cooper 1-0-6-6-4-0 255-3 - Short ball from Cooper, but O'Brien fails to capitalise and instead bangs it along the ground to deep cover. Happy to have the strike back, Wilson gets straight to business with swift foot movement in banging six and six again back over the bowler's head to swing the momentum well and truly Ireland's way. Four squirted past backward point follows and Wilson has certainly injected some impetus into the Irish pursuit here. They still have their batting Powerplay in hand, remember.
Over 40 Raja 0-0-0-0-4-0 237-3 - The right-arm spinner continues from around the wicket to the left-handed O'Brien, who seems to think he has all year to score the remaining runs for victory. Realising he is racking up dot balls at an alarming rate, he promptly decides to fix it all with an awkward reverse-sweep, which balloons past the wicketkeeper through thirdman-cum-fine-leg for four. Regardless of the boundary, Raja won that battle within the war.
Over 39 Cooper W-0-0-0-0-0 233-3 - Big blow for Ireland and massive boost for the Dutch, who are very happy to see the back of Joyce. Wicket! His attempt to dab a straight one down to thirdman for a single fails, with a thin edge instead feathered to the wicketkeeper. Cooper's part-timers bag another scalp and, ladies and gentlemen, we have a cliffhanger on the cards. In now is Wilson, who does his best to work his first single through the on-side but can't beat midwicket time and time again. So, a wicket-maiden.
Over 38 Raja 1-4-1-1-0-0 233-2 - O'Brien fancies a trot down the track and heave through the spin, fetching himself an ugly four skewed through the on-side. Not the most textbook of strokes, but certainly the desired result for the left-hander. With the start to his over off to an expensive start, the spinner does well to close it on the quiet with a better, tweaked length.
Over 37 Bukhari 2-1-0-0-2-1lb 226-2 - Bukhari to continue. O'Brien cracks a cut though point but there is protection on the fence so it's just two. Two more to the total, this time Joyce is the man responsible as he comes down the track and drives powerfully through extra cover.
Over 36 Raja 0-0-0-0-4-1 220-2- Raja starts strongly with a few dots but O'Brien decides enough is enough and gets down on one knee to crack a slog sweep to the fence for four.
Over 35 Bukhari 0-2-4-0-2-0 215-2 - 100 needed from 96 for the Irish, if they're smart about this it should be a fairly easy task. With the 'new' ball in hand, it's Mudassar Bukhari to continue after the break. Joyce gets in a bit of a tangle but still manages to pull the ball over short midwicket for two. No mistake this time though as Joyce spanks the ball over midwicket for four. Ooh, nearly a chance there as Joyce makes up his mind early to run two to the leg side sweeper, he really has to put on the afterburners to get home and a good throw would have seen him short.
Over 34 Raja 0-1-2-0-1-0 207-2 - Change of bowling with the off-breaks of Adeel Raja returning. O'Brien picks up two, driving to the right of the man at short extra cover. Time for the players to take a drinks break and for the umpies to change the ball.
Over 33 Cooper 1-1-0-0-0-2 202-2 - This pair are starting to find their stride now, having picked up a few boundaries in the previous over they now nudge the ball around for a few singles before Joyce slashes the ball wide of deep cover for two.
Over 32 Seelaar 0-4-0-4-1-1 198-2 - Aaah, super shot from Joyce as he runs the ball off the face of the bat very, very fine and it rushes to the third man fence. Two boundaries from the over and again it's the third man fence that is targeted, with Joyce giving himself a bit of room and guiding the ball into the gap.
Over 31 Cooper 0-0-0-0-0-1 188-2 - Nearly another maiden before Joyce manages to squeeze the ball down the ground for one.
Over 30 Seelaar 0-0-0-0-0-0 187-2 - Seelaar fires through a quick maiden over. Blink and you would have missed it!
Over 29 Cooper 1-1-0-0-0-2 187-2 - Time to consolidate with the loss of the openers in quick succession. Joyce gets off the mark, cutting to deep cover for a single. Joyce will be looking to end strongly; while he hasn't been a failure many would have expected him to take more of a leading role with the bat. Two to end the over as Joyce works the ball wide of the man sweeping on the off side.
Over 28 Seelaar 2-0-W-0-4-0 183-2 - Stirling bashes two through midwicket and that brings up his century would you believe it, from just 70 balls. He's been brave but also been fortunate with some remarkable stroke play setting Ireland up. WICKET! And two balls after reaching his milestone Stirling has followed his skipper by perishing to a long hop. It was so short and he's just hit it straight down Alexei Kervezee's throat on the leg side fence! Niall O'Brien is the new man in and he's off the mark with a cut shot off another short delivery from Seelaar.
Over 27 Cooper 1-1-1-0-0-W 177-1 - OUT! Finally the Netherlands have a breakthrough with Cooper dropping short and wide and Porterfield edging a cut shot through to Buurman behind the stumps!
Over 26 Seelaar 1-0-1-1-2-1 174-0 - You think that if any of the Netherlands bowlers could provide some inspiration it'd be Seelaar, the left-armer is back on now, with seven overs remaining. It's easy does it for the Irish though with three comfortable singles and a couple worked into the leg side.
Over 25 Cooper 0-1-0-0-0-1 168-0 - After a hundred and seven overs on the trot Ryan ten Doeschate is given a break, finally, with Tom Cooper handed the ball. A single to each batsmen makes a tidy over to start for Cooper but the Irish are cruising here.
Over 24 Borren 0-1-0-1lb-3-4 166-0 - Yet another boundary ends what had been a decent over from Borren. Stirling swatted three runs out towards deep cover and Porterfield ended the over with fours runs from the toe end racing down to third man off the final delivery.
Over 23 ten Doeschate 1-4-4-4-0-1 157-0 - This is horrible watching if you're Dutch, it's the final over of the bowling powerplay and Paul Stirling is making ten Doeschate pay - three back to back boundaries with the first flicked over short fine leg, the second angled past point off the outside edge and the third turned again off the pad for four more past the man short on the leg side!
Over 22 Borren 0-1-1lb-0-0-1 143-0 - William Porterfield has in the meantime reached fifty - off 70 balls, and also passed Kevin O'Brien to become the highest scorer of ODI runs for Ireland. Stirling goes on the sweep and is struck on the pad, loud appeal from Borren but it's turned away with the review coming back negative as well.
Apologies Sorry folks, we've had some technical difficulties here and been offline for a the amount of time that it took the players to have a drinks break as well as get through five overs. In that time Stirling and Porterfield have marched on to 140 for no loss, Porterfield surviving two dropped catches, first Barresi off the bowling of Borren and then ten Doeschate missing a tough chance off his own bowling. The bowling powerplay has also been taken, in the 18th over.
Over 16 Seelaar 4-1-1-1-1-1 101-0 - Stirling breaks the boundary drought with a sweep shot down to deep square for four! For the rest it's just singles - five of them - with the 100 run mark coming up. This has been a fantastic start for Ireland and they're certainly favourites at this stage.
Over 15 ten Doeschate 0-1-2-0-0-0 92-0 - Stirling goes on the heave again but can only get a single from a miscue to the leg side while Porterfield drives handsomely through cover for two.
Over 14 Seelaar 1-0-1-1-0-0 89-0 - Three more singles here off Seelaar who follows up on his opening over. The bowling powerplay still hasn't come which means that the Netherlands still have ten overs of fielding restrictions to get through.
Over 13 ten Doeschate 0-0-0-0-0-0 86-0 - And would you believe it it's a maiden over - Ryan ten Doeschate landing six goodies in to Porterfield.
Over 12 Seelaar 0-0-1-0-0-1 86-0 - The Dutch have arguable their best pair of bowlers on now as Pieter Seelaar comes into the attack with his left-arm spin, and he concedes just a pair of singles from his opening over.
Over 11 ten Doeschate 1-0-0-1-0-1 84-0 - Borren turns to his match-winner Ryan ten Doeschate and not a moment too soon with the medium pacer at least momentarily stopping the carnage with just three singles from the over. With the initial powerplay over there's a man at deep square leg who keeps a swing over the top from Porterfield to just one run. In the meantime Paul Stirling has also gone to fifty, his whirlwind knock taking him there off just 25 balls!
Over 10 Loots 4-6-4-1-0-4 81-0 - What is Peter Borren to do? It's raining boundaries in Kolkata. He takes the slip out but then Stirling edges through the areas for four before landing a massive blow over the midwicket fence for six! His placement is then perfect through the off side for four more and Porterfield drives square for four more to end the over! 19 runs from it!
Over 9 Bukhari 0-0-0-4-0-0 62-0 - Five dots and yet another boundary as Porterfield helps himself to a boundary over the top of cover, easy as you like.
Over 8 Loots 0-4-0-1-4-1 58-0 - Another heave-ho from Stirling, this is entertaining stuff. Rather a slog but he finds enough bat through midwicket to collect four. Porterfield adds four of his own with a flick off the pads as new bowler Bernard Loots battles to adjust his line for the left-hander.
Over 7 Bukhari 0-0-1-0-0-0 48-0 - Normality returns, with just a single from the over swung away to deep midwicket by Paul Stirling who is still holding nothing back.
Over 6 Raja 4-0-4-4-1-0 47-0 - Sterling picks up his third, fourth and fifth boundaries of his innings with a swat over midwicket and back-to-back fours through the off side - one off the back foot and the other driven off the front.
Over 5 Bukhari 0-4-0-0-4-0 34-0 - Bukhari goes short on two occasions and Porterfield takes advantage first with a crisp cut shot and then a pull to collect two more boundaries - the Irish are off to a great start here, just think of the carnage that Kevin O'Brien is capable of against this Dutch attack.
Over 4 Raja 0-4-0-0-1-0 26-0 - Raja now has ball in hand and can make up for that dropped chance. Porterfield though picks a flighted delivery and drives through the off side, uppishly but safe and away for four! The Dutch are battling with the field settings to the left and right-handed Irish combination.
Over 3 Bukhari 4-1lb-0-1-4-4lb 21-0 - Not a great over for the Dutch - Stirling does what he knows best and swings at everything, landing a boundary over midwicket and an edge to the fence too. A leg byes down the leg side run away for four and Porterfield gets a life after Adeel Raja drops a straightforward chance at third man.
Over 2 Raja 0-0-0-0-0-0 7-0 - It's Adeel Raja with some spin to start things off from the other end and he's started fantastically well with a maiden to Porterfield.
Over 1 Bukhari 0-0-0-0-1-6 7-0 - We are back on already, no time for lunch there, with Mudassar Bukhari opening the bowling with two slips in play. Porterfield drives to extra cover for a single and then Paul Sterling gets a top edge to his pull shot from his very first delivery, the ball flying over the fence behind the keeper for six!
Ireland need 307 for victory Ireland made a good start but Wesley Barresi and Ryan ten Doeschate put the Netherland back on track. Ten Doeschate went on to record his second ton of the tournament whle Peter Borren chipped in with 84. The Netherlands though were unable to maximise their advantage in the latter stages but they still finish with an excellent 306. Will Kevin O'Brien produce again or do the Dutch have enough runs? Join us in 40m for Ireland's chase.
Over 50 K O'Brien 0-0-0-wd-wd+W-W-W-1W 306 all out - Kevin O'Brien will bowl the final over of the innings. He went for 30 in his previous four overs. Starts with a slow bouncer. Another shorter one and Buurman again misses out. WICKET! Buurman runs down the track but it's too wide. He so far down that the wicketkeeper can gather behind the stumps to run him out. WICKET! Pieter Seelaar comes and departs in one ball. Hit straight to midwicket and Mooney hits at the non-striker's end. Adeel Raja is at the non-striker's end. WICKET! A hat-trick of run-outs. Bukhari flat bats it straight to mid-on but Raja is half-way down the track. He gets sent back but the throw is good and he's on his way again without facing a ball. Bernard Loots is the final man in. WICKET! Four run outs in a row. Has that happened before? Anyway the last one you can't blame on the batsmen. Bukhari swings and it goes to deep midwicket. They come back for a second but the throw is good. You really can't blame them for that one.
Over 49 Rankin 6-1-nb-nb-0-1-1-1 303-6 - Ireland have managed to slow the run rate down slightly in the past couple of overs. Ranking returns but he undoes the hard work as Bukhari hits it over the deep midwicket fence for six. Bukhari goes again but he doesn't get hold of it and it goes in the air but falls short of deep backward square leg. More problems for Ireland. Bukhari gets bowled. He looked to give himself room but misses. Umpire checked upstairs and it's a no-ball. Rankin will be kicking himself as he follows it up with another no-ball. That takes the Netherlands to 300. Bukhari gets bowled for a second time in the over but it was off a free-hit.
Over 48 Johnston 1-1-0-1-1-0 291-6 - Better start to the over from Johnston as he gives the batsmen no room to free their arms. Buurman is forced to change his approach and he comes down the track but he doesn't middle it. This really siis an excellent over from Johnston. He finishes with one for 50 in his 10.
Over 47 Mooney 2-0-2-2-W-0 287-6 - Mooney starts his final over with a ball on the legs and he's lucky it's not put away for four. Borren clips it but the man on the boundary does brilliantly. Mid-off gets cleared again but it's too high and just a couple. That takes the partnership to 51 off 40 balls. The death bowling has been really disappointing from Ireland. WICKET! Finally a wicket for Ireland. Borren looks to go inside out over cover but it's a slower ball and he picks out cover. Mudassar Bukhari is the new man in.
Over 46 Johnston 4-2-1-4-0-0 281-5 - Ireland's bowlers are really losing their way here. Fine leg is inside the circle but he bowls down the leg-side and Borren helps the ball on its way. Buurman walks down the track and hammers it through extra cover for four. The keeper decides to come up to the stumps to stop Buurman from running down the track.
Over 45 Mooney 4-0-1-2-0-4 270-5 - Mooney can only laugh as Borren swings and gets four with a thick outside edge. Batsman goes again but misses the ball. Mooney is not doing himself any favours by keeping it outside off-stump. Slower ball, and I mean really, really slow, gets pulled over the in-field for a couple. He's really lucky the batsman didn't connect properly. Over ends with another boundary as Buurman clears mid-off.
Over 44 Johnston 2-0-0-4-1-0 259-5 - Johnston comes back into the attack as the Netherlands take the bowling Powerplay. Borren chips it through midwicket for a couple. Big shout from the bowler as he again looks to work it to the on-side. Ireland want this reviewed. No luck for Ireland with the review. More frustration for Ireland as Borren clears mid-off for four.
Over 43 Mooney 0-4-2-0-0-4 252-5 - Buurman runs down the track for a big heave-ho but he misses. That really was an ugly shot. Little more deft next ball as he edges it wide of keeper for four. Next he goes for a pull but it gets a little high on him and he skies it. The ball falls about one metre wide of deep midwicket. The bowler is mixing it up but Buurman is also changing his approach every ball, using his feet or looking for a deft touch or just going for wild swings. More frustration for Mooney as Buurman edges it down to third man for four more.
Over 42 Stirling 0-2-0-4-0-0 242-5 - New man Buurman lofts it over cover but there's a man patrolling the boundary so it's just a single. Borren cuts powerfully and it beats third man quite comfortably. Stirling finishes with two for 51 in his 10.
Over 41 Mooney 0-0-1-0-0-1 237-5 - If the Dutch had taken the powerplay before that last over then maybe ten Doescahte wouldn't have had to clear the man on the fence. Anyway, a fantastic knock and Peter Borren will have to take most of the responsibility now - new man Atse Buurman playing and missing at a couple. Just two singles from the over and Buurman gets off the mark to keep the strike.
Over 40 Stirling 1-0-0-6-W-1 235-5 - Still no third powerplay but ten Doeschate is going big in any case and trots down the track before lifting Paul Stirling over midwicket for six! OUT! He then attempts to go over long on but hasn't cleared the man and John Mooney takes the catch. That's the end of a fantastic innings which started under pressure and also the end of a 121-run stand that came at nearly seven per over.
Over 39 Rankin 0-4-1-1-4-2 227-4 - The partnership is now over 100 and ten Doeschate moves into the 90s with a late cut chopped away to the fence. After trading singles with his skipper TD rockets another cut past point for four! That's an incredible stroke - all wrists as he timed it away. Two more then take ten Doeschate to three figures, that his fifth ODI hundred and the second of this World Cup - coming off 104 balls.
Over 38 K O'Brien 1-1-4-4-1-4 215-4 - Still no powerplay, but fine leg's up and Kevin O'Brien dishes it up on the pads and on a platter and ten Doeschate says thank you very much and tucks away fine for four. Width then allows ten Doeschate the chance to free his arms with four more past point and Borren goes to fifty with a clean strike over extra cover which brings 15 from the over!
Over 37 Rankin 1lb-1nb-1-0-0-0-0 200-4 - Rankin's pace and bounce has been brought back into the attack top unlock this pair who, if they carry on much longer, will be firing the Dutch well over 300. A no ball brings a free hit which ten Doeschate can't make the most of - a hook shot looping up for just a single. Rankin then takes the short approach to Borren which works especially well - the Dutch skipper unable to get bat on ball to a number of back-of-the-length deliveries outside off stump.
Over 36 Cusack 0-2-1-2-4- 197-4 - A pair of twos and then a single before Borren decides to have a dip over extra cover and clears the inner rings with the ball bouncing away for four. A single sees the Dutch skipper keep the strike and he's onto 46 now.
Over 35 Johnson 0-1-0-0-1lb-3 187-4 - Ten Doeschate drives handsomely through extra cover and the batsmen race through for three while Gary Wilson on the fence puts in a telling sliping tackle, kicking the ball away from the rope to save the boundary.
Over 34 Cusack 1-1-0-1-1-0 182-4 - Alex Cusack takes over from Stirling who still has two overs left of his quota. Anyway, this could be the Netherlands cue to attack the medium pacer but they are choosing to it in singles for now with some really good running between the wickets.
Over 33 Johnson 2-1-1-0-1-0 178-4 - Borren flicks through midwicket for a couple, these two are running well as ten Doeschate scampers through for a single off the glove. William Porterfield needs a wicket soon and he's brought back Trent Johnson to probe for just that. A misfield then nearly brings a run out but the Dutch have learnt from the four run outs in their previous game and ten Doeschate quickly sends his skipper back in time.
Over 32 Stirling 1-1-1-0-1-4 173-4 - The perfect way to go into the drinks break for the Netherlands, after a collection of singles ten Doeschate picks his spot over midwicket and frees the arms to collect a boundary wide of long on.
Over 31 K O'Brien 0-1-0-1-0-1lb 165-4 - Kevin does a dirty on his brother with a cross seam delivery catching the keeper on the end of the finger. It is in fact given runs so that'll go down as a chance - tough one though with ten Doeschate the batsman involved.
Over 30 Stirling 1-1-1-1-1-0 162-4 - With ten Doeschate looking to advance Stirling opts to dart in short and it's a diet of single for both batsmen. Borren looks to crack the last ball of the over away on the drive but it's well stopped at cover.
Over 29 K O'Brien 4-1-1-0-1-2 157-4 - Ed Joyce makes a mess of a routine stop on the fence to give away a boundary after ten Doeschate flicks away to the leg side. The Dutch pair continue to collect singles to the men in the deep before Borren turns off the hip for two more to fine leg. The runs continue to come easily for the Netherlands.
Over 28 Stirling 1-0-1-0-0-0 148-4 - Stirling has absolutely raced through his over and conceded just two singles in the process.
Over 27 K O'Brien 1-0-1-0-1-1 146-4 - Kevin O'Brien is on now for the Irish, his first bowl of the day, and he's eased to thirdman for one which takes Ryan ten Doeschate to his tenth ODI fifty! Three more singles are collected with the field out and Ireland need a wicket before this partnership gets out of hand.
Over 26 Stirling 2-4-0-0-0-0 142-4 - Borren's really getting going here and set for telling influence - he guides behind square for a couple and then plays an even better shot, cutting finer for another boundary. The Dutch skipper is on to 22 from just 18 balls.
Over 25 Rankin 1-4-4-wd-4-0-1 136-4 - The wind's got up and so the umpires have called for heavier bails. With that done Boyd Rankin's back into the attack and after being cut away hard for a single to the cover sweeper, Borren gets away with a delivery on the pads and he clips away square for four. He then gets a thick edge wide of first slip which brings another boundary before a delightful little guide over the slip cordon for a third boundary in the over. This plus a wide and a single to thirdman makes it a very expensive over from Rankin.
Over 24 Stirling 1-0-0-0-1-0 121-4 - Another workmanlike over from Stirling, just the two singles from it as Borren tries to play himself in - the Irish have brought in a slip for the Dutch skipper.
Over 23 Mooney 0-1-2-1lb-0-1 119-4 - Ten Doeschate turns one away to the leg side and the Dutch pair scamper through for two. There's a leg bye and a single for Borren down to third man as the Netherlands keep the rate ticking over.
Over 22 Stirling 2-0-1-0-W-1b 114-4 -OUT! These umpires don't get much wrong, and Billy Doctrove is spot on with another lbw shout sent up for review. Barresi just missed a straight delivery from Stirling, the Irish spinner having changed ends, and was plumb in front to end a highly entertaining innings. He's gone for 44. Peter Borren is the new man and the Dutch pair scamper through for a bye to start their stand.
Over 21 Mooney 0-0-0-4-0-1 110-3 - Mooney takes over from Stirling and finds the outside edge of ten Doeschate's bat, the ball running away to the fence for four more. A single punched away from the final delivery makes it five runs from the over.
Over 20 Dockrell 1-1-0-0-0-1 105-3 - It's a very sad end to George Dockrell's World Cup - he dived full stretch to his right while trying to prevent a single off his bowling and in diving he's dislocated his right shoulder. The physio is on and the tall Irish spinner is escorted off the park, craddling his arm. That's a big blow to Ireland too with Dockrell only into his fourth over. Alex Cusack will finish off the over and he's cut away by ten Doeschate with a half-stop yielding one run.
Over 19 Stirling 1-6-0-1-1-0 102-3 - SIX! That man Barresi! He's climbed into a juicy off-spinner and deposited it over the midwicket fence, quite a way back too. And the Netherlands are passed the 100 mark too.
Over 18 Dockrell 0-1-1-4-0-0 93-3 - Dockrell is probing from around the wicket, looking for an lbw shout and he nearly gets one but Barressi is able to get his bat in the way at the last minute. A single to either batter is then followed by a crisp sweep in front of square for four - Barresi again.
Over 17 Stirling 0-1-0-1-0-1 87-3 - Paul Stirling is into the attack with his off spinners - he did a fantastic job against South Africa and will be looking to do the same here by drying up the runs and possibly picking a wicket as a bonus. He's on the money to start with three singles from the over, Barresi tapping into the covers for one to keep the strike.
Over 16 Dockrell 0-0-1-0-0-1 84-3 - A tidy over from Dockrell concedes just two runs a and his ten overs are going to be key, how much can the Netherlands squeeze out of his left-arm spin?
Over 15 Mooney 0-4-0-1-1-0 82-3 - Barresi shoots from the hip with heave away to the leg side for another boundary! He's come back out and not been shy to play his strokes - you kind of get the feeling it could go wrong at any time but it's certainly entertaining. He then adds a single with ten Doeschate - who has been quiet due to a lack of the strike - pushing into the covers for another run. And that's drinks.
Over 14 Dockrell 0-0-0-4-0-1 76-3 - George Dockrell is into the attack, still in the powerplay, and after tying Barresi to the crease for a couple of deliveries the Dutch opener decides to go over the top with a beat down the ground for four!
Over 13 Mooney 0-0-1-0-4-1 71-3 - Mooney is accurate as ever and traps Barresi right in front, there's some bat involved though so no lbw forthcoming. Barresi then goes on the offensive again and gets lucky with a thick edge running away for four. He then drives to deep extra cover for another single and has come out playing strokes here since his blow to the head. Would be a good laugh is was to go on and get a big score now.
Over 12 Rankin 2-wd-0-0-6-0-2 65-3 - Wow, that blow's woken Barresi up and he's clubbed Rankin for an awesome six, pulling away a ball that was never short enough to do so! A flick off the pads then brings two more to deep square leg.
Over 11 Mooney W-0-0-0-0-1 54-3 - Wicket! Just as it was starting to look promising for Ireland Kervezee has gone and played a horrible stroke - coming down the track and then spooning the softest of shots straight to Kevin O'Brien at short cover. That was like a golfer finding water - Kervezee was trying so hard to avoid the short cover that he ended up popping the ball straight to the fielder there. Wesley Barresi has made his way back out into the middle, and after groggily wafting at a couple he's off the mark for the second time today.
Over 10 Johnson 1-0-4-0-0-0 53-2 - Kervezee crashes a drive to extra cover but it's well stopped and just the single. Johnson again goes full, this time to ten Doeschate, who frees his arms with an aerial drive eluding point and racing away to the fence! The experience Irish bowler then beats ten Doeschate with a beauty that beats the outside edge from the final ball of the over.
Over 9 Mooney 0-0-4-4-0-0 48-2 - Wesley Barresi looking groggy has been pulled off and he's to undergo observation after that blow he took to the head. John Mooney is into the attack and ten Doeschate beats four off the back foot through the off side before angling down to thirdman for back-to-back boundaries!
Over 8 Johnson 4-0-0-0-0-0 40-2 - Kervezee's started the over with a leading edge that flies down to third man for four! It's becoming frustrating for Ireland now but Johnson sticks to his task and finishes the over with five dot balls.
Over 7 Rankin 1-0-1-4-0-wd-0 36-2 - A single each as Rankin runs in again, he then overpitches and ten Doeschate has spared no power as he wrestles a square drive away to the fence! Ryan's starting to look good and it's an ominous sign for the Irish as Rankin throws down a horrible leg side wide.
Over 6 Johnson 0-4-0-0-0-0-0 29-2 - The consistent Johnson strays for once and gets deposited over the leg side for a boundary! Overpitched on the off side follows with ten Doeschate picking up four more which a cleanly struck drive brilliantly placed between the cover fielders. More agression ends the over but it's just the single as ten Doeschate goes to pull, he's looking to counter-attack now.
Over 5 Rankin 0-1-1-0-4 20-2 - Kervezee is starting to hit the ball out of the middle as he and ten Doeschate exchange singles. Kervezee then plays almost the exact same stroke that got Cooper out, riding the extra bounce to guide backward of point - this time though it beats the fielder and runs away for four!
Over 4 Johnson 0-0-0-0-0-0 14-2 - These are testing times for the Dutch and the Irish are making the most of the seam-friendly conditions on offer here. It's a maiden from Johnson to ten Doeschate who really is the key for the Netherlands and therefore is playing cautiously for now.
Over 3 Rankin 4-W-1-0-0-1 14-2 - Too straight from Rankin and Cooper flicks away off the pads elegantly for four through midwicket. OUT! Cooper it is who moves forward looking to ease into the off side and the extra bounce has seen him guide the ball straight to William Porterfield at backward point! The Netherlands are tottering now! Kervezee is off the mark immediately and ten Deschate gets a single off the glove after Rankin makes the most of his height again with plenty of height on offer here at Eden Gardens.
Over 2 Johnson 0-0-W-0-1-0 8-1 - Wicket! There it is, the early breakthrough for Ireland! The balls being moving about already in this first over and a bit and Johnson removes Szwarczynski with a full delivery which draws him forward and then nips away. There's a small edge and Niall O'Brien does the rest. Meanwhile, Barresi is a little groggy after taking that throw to the back of the head and he's walking off the field too! Major blow for Holland, they've lost both openers from the same delivery! Anyways, Tom Cooper and Ryan ten Doeschate are at the crease so the Dutch have their two best in the middle. Cooper gets off the mark and ten Doeschate gets beaten outside off by Johnson.
Over 1 Rankin 1-2-0-4lb-0-0 7-0 - Plenty of first over drama in Kolkata, Wesley Barresi is dropped by Kevin O'Brien at second slip! High to his right but should have been taken. On the return for the second Barresi is not watching the ball and he takes an Irish throw to the back of the head. There's four leg byes down the leg side and then Barresi is beaten by a beauty from Rankin that brushes the thigh but misses the bat.
Team news Ireland are unchanged from the game that did duty against South Africa while the Netherlands make just one change, Bernard Loots in for Tom de Grooth. Meanwhile the players have had the anthems and it's time to go.
Toss Despite Ian Botham's advice to the contrary Ireland have won the toss and William Porterfield has said something in that thick Irish accent, including the fact that the Irish will Bowl first.
