End Of Match: SA WIN BY 309 RUNS What a series this has been, but this game was always in South Africa's control. We saw an epic batting performance from the visitors while the hosts never really showed much fight. While South Africa will celebrate their number one Test ranking, the real talk will be around Ricky Ponting who has played his last Test for Australia, an emotional time for any cricket player and supporter of the game. Thanks for joining us.

Over 83 Steyn 0-0-4-0-W 322/10 - WICKET! Finally, Steyn gets his man as Smith takes one more catch in the slips! A real solid catch by the Protea's captain who has been phenomenal in the field today. That's it now, it's all over, Lyon's innings comes to an end and South Africa win the Test.

Over 82 Philander 0-0-4-0-4-0 318/9 - Starc's incredible innings continues as he plonks Philander over the top of mid-off for four - he's actually batting really well, credit to him! He's done it again, this time it's a bit higher over the fielder's head and he's gone for four more!

Over 81 Steyn 4-0-0-0-4-0 310/9 - What a shot from Lyon who glides Steyn off the thigh, with the new ball, for four past deep backward square. Ahhh my word, Lyon nicks one and it's pierced the gap between Kallis and Smith - they're both starring at each other wondering why the other didn't go for it. Steyn is horrified. That's the over.

Over 80 du Plessis 4-0-1-0-1-4 302/9 - Slapped down the ground, straight back past the bowler and that's four more runs to Starc. Australia surpass 300, something they probably never ever thought was possible!

Over 79 Steyn 1-0-0-0-4-0 292/9 - Starc and Lyon continue to frustrate the South African bowling attack - Lyon tucks one away neatly around the corner and tickles it away for four more down to fine leg.

Over 78 du Plessis 0-1-4-3-0-0 287/9 - Faf gets a bowl, who would have thought. Is this a sign of desperation from Graeme Smith? Well, it's not exactly paying off as Starc reaches his first ever half-century in a Test match.

Over 77 Steyn 1-0-1-0-0-2 279/9 - A couple off the last ball, Mitchell Starc is doing really well here, at least he is adding to his personal tally - making this all worth his while..

Over 76 Peterson 0-4-1-4-2 275/9 - Smith has three men near the bat, but Peterson's bowling is going to the boundary. Two fours from the over as Starc and Lyon pick-up one a piece.

Over 75 Morkel 0-0-0-4-3-0 264/9 - Starc gets lucky with a boundary as Morkel drops one in short and high - it's a "tired" delivery from Morkel who looks to be taking a bit of strain as Starc hits him up once more, this time getting it in the gap and setting off for three.

Over 74 Peterson 1-4-2-0-0-0 257/9 - Starc collects a single working it to deep midwicket. Lyon sweeps one neatly aside for four down to fine leg and then sets off for a couple to deep square leg.

Over 73 Morkel 0-1-wd-0-0-0-0 250/9 - The 250 comes up in the over as Morkel bowls one that's far too wide to be considered a legitimate ball. Not much else happening there in that over.

Over 72 Peterson 6-0-6-1-0-0 248/9 - Two sixes in the over - incredible stuff from Starc who is playing as if this were a T20 International. I guess they've got nothing to lose, right?

Over 71 Morkel 1-W-0-0-0-0 235/9 - Change of bowling, and he strikes! WICKET! Smith takes yet another catch, he's been fantastic in the field! And easy low catch at slip and Hastings leaves the middle with his head down. Nathan Lyon, for what it's worth, comes to the crease.

Over 70 Peterson 4-1-0-1-1-4 234/8 - Not really going the Protea's way right now - Starc and Hastings are taking a little edge of control as Starc lofts four off Peterson's first - narrowly missing the bowlers hands above the head. Hastings ends with another four.

Over 69 Philander 0-0-1-0-0-0 223/8 - Philander tries to trap Starc but the tail-ender manages a single and sends his batting partner back on strike for the last three which get defended away.

Over 68 Peterson 6-1-4-0-1-6 222/8 - Hastings smashes one far into the stands, so far that there's a delay while they try find it. Eventually they get it returned and Peterson continues his over. What an over as Starc gets in on the action with a four before taking a single. Hastings ends things with a six - the ultimate maximum - and the crowd are celebrating and cheering. Magnificent fight, if nothing else, from the Aussies.

Over 67 Philander 0-0-0-0-W-0 204/8 - WICKET! GOT HIM!!!! Philander gets a nick from around the wicket with a perfect length delivery - Johnson needed to get forward, but didn't, and pays the price! Excellent bowling! Mitchell Starc comes forward now...

Over 66 Peterson 0-0-0-0-0-0 204/7 - Peterson narrowly misses the wickets as one creeps through between the bat and pad, sneaking around the wicket. Hastings getting very lucky not to find himself dismissed.

Over 65 Philander 0-0-0-0-0-0 204/7 - No surprises as Philander opens after Tea and bowls the first maiden of the session.

And we're back... Let's go, final session, day four.

Tea Three wickets between South Africa and a series win on Australian soil. They've had a fantastic session this morning with the ball and will hope to dismantle the Aussie tail before the close of play. Join us in about 20minutes for the final, evening session.

Over 64 Peterson 1-0-0-0-0-0 204/7 - Just a single from the over, as Tea time dawns on day four.

Over 63 Steyn 0-2-wd-0-0-0-0 203/7 - Steyn bowls a decent over, although there's a wide in it which was a bouncer deemed too 'bouncerish' and so it had to be called a wide...

Over 62 Peterson 0-0-0-0-W-2 200/7 - There's a man at short midwicket and he's there for a reason! WICKET! Caught by Smith in the perfect position as Peterson claims Wade as his third wicket of the innings. South Africa are now just three wickets away from a win in Australia. Mitchell Johnson, another left-hander, walks out to the middle.

Over 61 Steyn 0-0-W-0-0-0 198/6 - Hussey swings at a pitched up and just wide of off-stump delivery - Hussey loves to drive but this time it's ending in a wicket for the visitors! WICKET! AB takes an easy catch behind the stumps and John Hastings makes his way to the middle to replace Hussey.

Over 60 Peterson 4-0-2-0-0-4 198/5 - Wade gets off to a startling start with a four off the first, two off the third and another boundary off the last - pulled away for four. Expensive over for Peterson but very welcomed by the Australians.

Over 59 Steyn 0-0-0-0-0-0 188/5 - Steyn returns after Elgar's little bowl. A maiden over to start over with.

Over 58 Peterson 0-0-3-0-W-0 188/5 - STUMPED! WICKET! Clarke gets on strike after Hussey picks up an easy three toward the ropes. Clarke comes down the wicket and tries to smash a big one but connects with nothing but air - AB skips over to collect the wider delivery and dismantles the stumps as Clarke goes fishing through the off side.

Over 57 Elgar 0-0-4-0-0-0 185/4 - Elgar sends in three full toss deliveries, and the third is dispatched for four. Not sure what Elgar can offer with the ball here, but Clarke pretty much shows that any bad balls are going to be dealt with firmly.

Change of Bowling Dean Elgar now into the attack...

Over 56 Peterson 1-1-0-0-4-0 181/4 - Peterson gets one hit straight back to him and in a moment of madness he has a go at the stumps but instead throws directly into Hussey's back! The Aussie faithful ensure the boo's ring out through the WACA while the bowler apologises profusely.

Over 55 Morkel 3-0-3-1-1-3 175/4 - A pretty solid and decent run-filled over for the hosts as Hussey takes three over midwicket, Clarke gets three more clipping one past midwicket and then each get a single to end off with before Hussey allocates another three to his score.

Over 54 Peterson 3-0-4-4-0-0 164/4 - Hussey bags three with a pull over short fine leg - not fierce enough for a boundary though so he just picks up a few. Clarke goes for one big four with a well-timed flick in front of square and then sweeps one over square leg for another four!

Over 53 Morkel 0-0-0-0-1-0 153/4 - A single to Hussey who punches down to point and sets off. Clarke just eyes out the last of the over.

Over 52 Peterson 0-0-0-0-0-0 152/4 - Maiden over for Peterson as Clarke takes it easy and plays simple and safely.

Over 51 Morkel 1-0-0-0-0-0 152/4 - Just a single off the over - Clarke slaps a short and wide delivery for the one. No more from the over, and its end brings us to a drinks break.

Over 50 Peterson 0-0-3-1-0-0 151/4 - Some shouts of "catch-it" as Hussey clips wide of midwicket but no-one manages to get it, and that's three to the batting team. Clarke gets a single while Hussey defends the last two of the over.

Over 49 Morkel 1-0-0-4-4-0 147/4 - Hussey picks up a really quick single to start the over. Morkel looking for the yorker on the fourth but it's slightly misdirected and Clarke sticks it away to the fine-leg boundary for four. Clarke plays the shot of the day thus far on the up as he gets right on top of the bounce and perfectly times it away past mid-on for four.

Over 48 Peterson 0-0-1-0-1-0 138/4 - Clarke and Hussey each pick up a single to their name as Peterson is re-introduced to the attack. Graeme Smith is doing really well rotating his bowlers, going for the likes of Steyn and Philander and switching to Peterson and Morkel to give the opening duo a break.

Over 47 Morkel 0-0-0-0-0-0 136/4 - Morkel is up in appeal on the fifth for LBW but absolutely no question that Hussey was nowhere near out - AB and Hussey have a little laugh afterwards and Morkel responds to end the over with a very quick bouncer.

Over 46 Philander 0-0-0-0-0-4 136/4 - Philander's first is nicked but drops just inches short of Kallis at third slip - that's real lucky for Clarke who goes on to forward defend the next two which fly straight past the bat missing the edge by millimeters. Clarke manages four-runs on the last as he pushes forward and drives past mid-on.

Over 45 Steyn 0-2-0-0-0-0 132/4 - Hussey gets off the mark with a couple just wide of gully. No more runs in the over as Steyn chops and changes his line and length.

Over 44 Philander 0-0-0-0-0-0 130/4 - There's a slight delay now, Clarke has gone done in loads of pain after getting hit in "the area" - he's clearly misjudged that one and has been hit spot on - no babies for him in the next few days...

Over 43 Steyn 0-4-0-0-W-0 130/4 - Cowan brings up his half-century with a glorious drive through the covers all the way to the ropes for four. His achievement is met with a huge applause from the WACA faithful. WICKET! Cowan hooks a bouncer from Steyn but there's a man on the ropes and Elgar takes a really good catch in the deep! Michael Hussey next up.

Over 42 Philander 0-2-0-0-0-1 126/3 - A couple for Cowan - flicked in front of square, through the gap, and they come through for the two.

Over 41 Steyn 0-3-0-0-0-1 123/3 - Four from the over. Clarke whips away three as Morkel gives the chase to the ropes. Cowan notches up a single on the last ball, and retains the strike for the next over.

Over 40 Philander 1-0-0-0-0-0 119/3 - Clarke scores a single off the first - the only run of the over - although he wants a couple but Cowan just isn't quick enough to turn and get back for the second, so they settle on the one.

Over 39 Steyn 0-0-0-4-4-0 118/3 - No time wasting! Cowan gets things underway straight after Lunch with two fierce and fantastic strokes for four. Two boundaries in one over, whoa! We're in for a treat this session I reckon!

Lunch That's lunch folks. An emotional first session as Ricky Ponting's career comes to an end after Kallis took a simple catch in the slips off Peterson's bowling. Much should be said about South Africa's capture of three wickets this morning, but the headlines and focus will all be on Ricky Ponting as Australia go into the Lunch break with their captain in the middle, looking to try salvage whatever he can from the remaining sessions in this Test.

Over 38 Peterson 0-4-1-W-4-4 110/3 - Cowan finds the boundary, this time it's too short and wide from Peterson and Cowan finds the gap with ease, and in effect brings up the Aussie 100. WICKET! Ponting's test career comes to an end just before the lunch break as he edges straight to slip - that's the third wicket down, and the third one caught behind at slip. Ponting leaves the field but not before every SA player shakes his hand - he raises his bat, acknowledges the crowd and continues on his way back to the change room. Kallis takes a really good catch at slip and it seems he almost wants to apologise to Ponting. Michael Clarke is the new man - with an average of 51. Clarke is off the mark immediately with great use of the feet as he comes down the wicket and drives past mid-off - just wide of the fielder, four more! Clarke's not done, he comes down the wicket once more and smashes it right over the bowlers head for another four! Epic stuff!

Over 37 Steyn 0-0-0-0-0-0 97/2 - Still 535 runs to win - seems like a mammoth task, doesn't it? Steyn delivers the third maiden in a row - things slowing up a tad as lunch approaches...

Over 36 Philander 0-0-0-0-0-0 97/2 - Another maiden to add to Philander's tally - he's picked up five thus far in the innings. Not long to go now before lunch, everyone will be a little keen for a bit of a nibble.

Over 35 Steyn 0-0-0-0-4-0 97/2 - Steyn gets to have a go at Ponting just before the lunch break - he'll hope to get a couple of overs under the belt prior to them leaving the middle. Misfield at mid-off by Morkel gifts Ponting a well-played four off a full delivery, driven fiercly for four.

Over 34 Philander 0-0-0-0-0-0 93/2 - Cowan remains at the wicket after a good over from Philander. Smith's tight fielding has two slips and a gully - along with a short midwicket - all in place looking for the nearby catch. There's a delay as the ball gets changed, but we're back on track within minutes.

Over 33 Morkel 0-4-0-0-0-0 93/2 - Ponting gets off the mark with a trademark pull shot - he got into the perfect position before twisting and turning and sending it for four - everyone relieved and the crowd stand and applaud.

Over 32 Philander 0-0-0-0-0 89/1 - Cowan's punishment for that six'er is a change of bowling - Philander back into the attack. Six dot balls from the paceman, another good over and the Aussies hand over another maiden, with just 30 minutes until the end of this first session.

Over 31 Morkel 0-0-0-0-1-0 89/2 - Cowan only manages to move off the crease on the fifth as he picks up a single, working it away to fine leg.

Over 30 Peterson 6-0-1-0-0-0 88/2 - Cowan's first one from Peterson is a full-toss and it's dispatched over midwicket for the maximum! A huge shot, absolutely out of nowhere!

Over 29 Morkel 0-0-0-0-0-W 81/2 - Big appeal on Morkel's fourth for caught-behind but no-one seems keen to take the review as the Umpire claims it not-out. He follows with a boyline-style bouncer and then forces Watson to have a go next up - a nick is all the batsman can achieve and Smith takes it casually behind the wickets. WICKET! Ponting comes to the crease as every sole in the Waca stands to applaud - the South Africans form a guard of honor as Ponting comes to the wicket - what a moment for the Australian captain, and what a show of sportsmanship from the visitors.

Over 28 Peterson 1-1-0-0-0-0 81/1 - A couple of singles first up but then Peterson manages to end with four dots. Just two from the over.

Over 27 Morkel 1-1-0-0-4-0 79/1 - A single each to start the over but Watson gets on with the show with another solid shot - this time a punch - for four - he's stuck it quite wide of mid-on and there's no stopping that fierce shot.

Over 26 Peterson 0-4-1-0-0-0 73/1 - Watson picks up a single off the third, but not before smashing one down the ground - Peterson dives for it but nothing's going to take the pace off that rocket as it fires away for four!

Over 25 Morkel 0-4-1-0-0-0 68/1 - Another bowling change as Smith mixes things up a little. Morkel introduced into the innings for the first time today. Watson takes control of a short one and cuts it over the gully region for four. Cowan gets one angling into him and gets knocked where it hurts most; he takes some time to recover before getting up and continuing.

Over 24 Peterson 0-0-0-0-1-0 63/1 - Robin Peterson gets an over in the mix, this could be the start of a length spell perhaps? Just the one run off the spinner - Watson comes forward and drives it to mid-off for a safe run.

Over 23 Steyn 0-0-0-4-0-0 62/1 - Steyn searches for the yorker but doesn't get it right as Cowan punches it away - on this quick outfield, it's gone all the way to the ropes for four.

Over 22 Philander 0-0-0-0-0-0 58/1 - Maiden over for Philander as South Africa begin to look a little on edge as they chase the next wicket. Lots of "ooohhh's" and "aah's" but in the end, nothing worth appealing for.

Over 21 Steyn 3-0-0-0-0-0 58/1 - Watson finds a gap somehow between gully and point, managing to pick up three with some quick running.

Over 20 Philander 0-0-0-0-2-0 55/1 - Just a couple from the over - Cowan notches up another two adding to his tally.

Over 19 Steyn 0-0-0-0-0-1 53/1 - Just a single off the last ball as Cowan pushes into open space and sets off for an easy stroll down the wicket.

Over 18 Philander 0-1-0-1lb-1-0 52/1 - Fairly good over from Philander - both SA bowlers seem tasked with trying to strike the batsmen on the pads, in the hope of the LBW decision. A couple of near-shouts but in the end no real danger for the hosts.

Over 17 Steyn 0-0-0-0-4-0 49/1 - All going just fine for Steyn until there's one overpitched, and Watson punishes the bad ball for four straight down the ground, playing it late with the full face of the bat.

Over 16 Philander 0-0-0-0-0-0 45/1 - Another maiden, this time it's Cowan that has to hold on and be patient as Watson waits patiently at the other end..

Over 15 Steyn 0-0-0-0-0-0 45/1 - Steyn gets the morning underway with a perfectly good maiden over.

Over 14 Philander 0-W-1-0-4-0 45/1 - Perfect start for South Africa, Philander forces Warner to play at one that does just enough to bounce and move away from the seam and Smith takes the edge at slip; what about that for a start! WICKET! Shane Watson makes his way to the middle at number three. Pefect start for the visitors. Cowan gets off the mark with a well struck four after Watson pushes a single off the pads.

Underway Cowan and Warner get things going in the middle while Philander starts with the ball. Warner on strike.

Ponting's Final Innings Ricky Ponting could very well play his last ever knock in an Aussie white-shirt today; although if he has any say he'll at least want to wait until some time tomorrow, on day five, before he gets out to the middle. Share your thoughts with us on cricket@365.co.za and let us know what you think of Ponting and his career down under.

Greetings! Hello and welcome to day four of the third Test between Australia and South Africa in Perth. The hosts are chasing a massive 632 over the next two days, and are 40 without loss overnight. The more likely scenario is that they will aim to bat out the game, thus making it three out of three draws in the series. They are up against it, mind you. Play starts in around 25 minutes so stay tuned.
