NEW ZEALAND WIN BY SIX WICKETS Thanks for your company today, stay with skysports.com for report and reaction to today's game and join us again on Tuesday for the second one-day international from Hamilton.
Over 30 - Broad 0-1-1-0-0-1 131-4 - It's all over, New Zealand complete a six-wicket victory, chasing down a target of 131 with 120 balls to spare.
Over 29 - Sidebottom 0-0-1-0-0-0 128-4 - Taylor slashes a single down to third man to take New Zealand within three runs of victory.
Over 28 - Broad 0-0-4-1-0-W 127-4 - Wicket! Styris' day takes an unexpected turn for the worse, top edging a pull to be caught by Sidebottom off the square-leg boundary.
Over 27 - Sidebottom 0-4-W-0-0-0 122-3 - Wicket! One delivery after smashing a pull to the boundary, How edges behind after being tempted into driving as the ball angled across. Scott Styris enters the fray, willow in hand, with nine runs required.
Over 26 - Swann 2b-0-0-1-0-6- 118-2 - Swann is back on. The final delivery of the over is right in the slot allowing Taylor to get down on one knee and slog into the stand at midwicket.
Over 25 - Sidebottom 0-2-0-1-0-1 109-2 - With the end near, Sidebottom is also granted a second spell. Collingwood has to try something I suppose, it's been a miserable day for England.
Over 24 - Anderson 4-1-0-1-0-4 105-2 - How welcomes back Anderson by pulling the first delivery of his second spell to the midwicket fence. Shadows are just starting to become visible under the floodlights as a diving Bopara narrowly fails to prevent Anderson being taking for another boundary.
Over 23 - Broad 1-0-0-0-0-4 95-2 - A good over is spoiled by the final delivery, which is so wide that Taylor only just manages to reach and send racing to the point boundary.
Over 22 - Collingwood 0-0-0-4-1-0 90-2 - How latches onto a short ball and dispatches it to the midwicket boundary in fine style. New Zealand require 41 runs from 28 overs.
Over 21 - Broad 0-0-0-0-0-0 85-2 - Given the circumstances, Broad has produced an impressive spell that bodes well for when he gets a bowl on a pitch with a bit more pace in it.
Over 20 - Collingwood 0-0-0-1-0-0 85-2 - The fielding restrictions are back in place for the next five overs as Collingwood opts to take the second power play. Just a single from the over, pushed down the ground by Taylor.
.
Over 19 - Broad 1-0-1-W-0-1 84-2 - Wicket! McCullum gets a glove down the leg side and Mustard takes the catch diving to his left. New batsman Taylor is greeted by a bouncer and 'fearsome' stare from Broad.
Over 18 - Collingwood 0-1-0-1-4-1 81-1 - McCullum tucks into an attempted bouncer and dispatches it to the boundary. Banging it in halfway down is not the brightest idea from Collingwood given his status as a military medium pacer.
Over 17 - Broad 0-0-0-0-0-0 74-1 - How lucky was How? Very, in that over as his attempted pull stroke looped up off the splice but fell safe.
Over 16 - Collingwood 1-0-0-0-0-1 74-1 - With the game almost certainly gone, Collingwood decides to bring himself on for a bowl. McCullum and How both push a single.
Over 15 - Broad 1-2-1-0-2-0 72-1 - Broad sprays it around allowing McCullum and How to pick up a collection of easy ones and twos. There is no pressure on the batsmen as the required rate is under two per over.
Over 14 - Swann 1-0-0-0-0-4 66-1 - Mustard sprints forward from his position behind the stumps and gets a bat-pad chance from McCullum into his gloves, unfortunately he spills it upon impact with the ground. To rub it in McCullum smashes the next delivery to the extra cover boundary.
Over 13 - Broad 1-0-0-2-0-W 61-1 - Switch of ends for Broad. McCullum's upper cut just fails to carry to Anderson on the third-man boundary. Wicket! Ryder gets underneath a pull shot and is caught by sub fielder Luke Wright coming off the square-leg boundary.
Over 12 - Swann 1-0-0-0-4-0 58-0 - Collingwood rolls the dice again with the introduction of Swann's off-spin. Ryder aborts a charge down the track and follows up with a sweep from outside off-stump that races to the boundary.
Over 11 - Sidebottom 0-1-0-6-+-0-1lb 53-0 - McCullum leans into a booming drive and sends it into the crowd at midwicket. Sidebottom responds with a wide - sums up England's day.
Over 10 - Broad 0-0-0-1-0-0 44-0 - Broad is brought on first change. An lbw shout against Ryder is turned down as it pitched outside leg-stump and was shaping further down the leg side - it didn't have much going for it really. Collingwood opts not to take the second power play straightaway so the fielding restrictions will be relaxed for the time being.
Over 9 - Sidebottom 1-4-0-0-0-1 43-0 - Ryder is a powerful boy - a short delivery is dispatched in no-nonsense fashion to the midwicket boundary. Ryder is given a life later in the over when Swann puts down a straightforward chance at short midwicket. It was travelling but went straight at him and should have been held.
Over 8 - Anderson 1-1-0-4-1-4 37-0 - Another wild swing from McCullum gets him a boundary via the outside edge. Ryder also continues to find things easy with another sweetly-timed four down to square-leg.
Over 7 - Sidebottom 0-0-1-0-0-2 26-0 - Ryder swats the final delivery from outside off-stump over mid on for a couple.
Over 6 - Anderson 0-1-0-0-0-0 23-0 - Ryder fails to pierce the off-side field despite being giving every invitation to by Anderson's wayward line.
Over 5 - Sidebottom 0-0-0-0-4-0 22-0 - Too much width allows Ryder to free his arms and send the ball screaming over cover, one-bounce and into the fence. England hit seven boundaries during their entire innings, New Zealand have managed four in their first four overs.
Over 4 - Anderson 0-6-0-1-4-0 18-0 - Ryder shows what he's all about with a lovely pick up off his hip for six into the stand at square leg - terrific stroke from the big man. McCullum also gets involved, blasting a full delivery in the air back down the ground for a one-bounce four.
Over 3 - Sidebottom 0-0-0-0-4-0 7-0 - McCullum is running down the wicket and swinging at everything. He's lucky as a big inside edge bounces off his thigh pad and just over the stumps. Later in the over he makes a better connection - not quite out of the middle - for a boundary over midwicket.
Over 2 - Anderson 1-0-1-0-1-0 3-0 - McCullum charges down the wicket and edges his first ball in the air down to third man for a single, he was trying to whip it over midwicket and got a leading edge. Ryder is also off the mark with a single. McCullum gets another run, again off the edge, this time with a wild attempt to drive.
Over 1 - Sidebottom 0-0-0-0-0-0 0-0 - Ryder and McCullum - both keen strokemakers - stroll out to open the batting for New Zealand. Sidebottom starts with a maiden and even generates some away-swing, he's the first bowler to do that today.
INTERVALWell, that just goes to show that form in Twenty20 counts for little in the longer format of the limited-overs game. England's batting was awful today and their running between the wickets even worse. In contrast, New Zealand's bowling and fielding - so poor during the Twenty20 - was excellent and fully exploited a slow pitch. A complete turnaround in the space of just two days. Join us at 0515h (GMT) for New Zealand's run chase.
Over 50 - Patel 1-1-1-W 130ao - Wicket! Patel finishes off a fine effort from New Zealand by bowling Anderson with full delivery.
Over 49 - Mills 1-0-1lb-1-0-0 127-9 - Anderson almost has his head removed by a surprise bouncer, he just managed to get the hands up and fend it off in time.
Over 48 - Patel 0-1-1-0-0-0 124-9 - Anderson has been putting in some hours in the nets by the look of a back foot forcing stroke through the covers for a single.
Over 47 - Mills 1-0-0-0-0-1 122-9 - Jimmy Anderson - the No.11's No.11 - has a new bat sponsor and celebrates by playing some nice strokes, unfortunately they are not in the close vicinity of the ball. He survives at least.
Over 46 - Patel 0-1-0-W-0-0- 120-9 - Wicket! Sidebottom plays far too early and gifts a return catch back to Patel, ending a ninth-wicket partnership of 16 from 57 balls.
Over 45 - Mills 0-0-0-1-0-0- 119-8 - Vettori continues to switch things around by bringing Mills back for a second spell. There is another leg-side single for Broad but it's hard work (both for batsmen and spectators).
Over 44 - Patel 2-0-0-0-0-0 118-8 - Sidebottom gets two with a thick outside edge. Anyone out there think England have any chance of winning this match? New Zealand - who have bowled and fielded superbly so far today - do have an inexperienced top-order batting line-up. Send in your thoughts by using the FEEDBACK icon.
Over 43 - Oram 0-0-0-4-0-0 116-8 - Broad pulls a welcome boundary - the seventh of the innings - after Oram drops too short, although that's the only runs from the over.
Over 42 - Patel +-0-0-2-0-0-1 112-8 - Broad collects a couple out to midwicket, the first time England have scored more than a single for eight overs.
Over 41 - Oram 0-0-1-0-0-0 108-8 - Oram is back on for another go. Just a single into the leg side from Broad. Can England get to 150?
Over 40 - Patel 0-0-0-1-0-0 107-8 - More solid blocking is punctuated by a single from Broad, helped on its way into the leg side. Looks like the height of England's ambition now is to bat through the full 50 overs.
Over 39 - Vettori 0-0-0-0-0-0 106-8 - Sidebottom is in blocking mode, getting in a nice big stride and offering the full face of the bat during a Vettori maiden.
Over 38 - Patel 0-0-0-0-1-0 106-8 - Off-spinner Jeetan Patel is brought into the attack as New Zealand look to finish things off. Sidebottom collects a single via the inside edge.
Over 37 - Vettori 0-1-0-0-0- 105-8 - Wicket! The third run out of the innings brings an end to Shah. A sharp pick-up-and-throw from Taylor in the covers allows McCullum to remove the bails before Shah can get home.
Over 36 - Styris 0-0-0-0-0-1 104-7 - Wicket! Another run out - Swann hits the ball into the off-side and sets off for a single. Unfortunately, Jamie How makes a good stop at backward point, and Swann - after correctly being sent back by Shah - cannot regain his ground in time. Stuart Broad survives a convincing lbw shout second ball.
Over 35 - Vettori 0-0-1-0-0-1 103-6 - A single each for Shah and Swann as Vettori continues to exert a stranglehold on the scoring.
Over 34 - Styris 0-1-0-4-0-0 101-6 - Swann collects his first boundary by whipping the ball to midwicket. It just had enough on it to beat Taylor's chase and dive to the fence.
Over 33 - Vettori 0-1-0-1-1lb-1 96-6 - More fun and games with Shah's running between the wickets. This time he calls Swann through for a single, who would have been comfortably out had Jesse Ryder hit the stumps at the non-strikers' direct.
Over 32 - Styris 0-W-0-0-1-0 92-6 - Wicket! Bopara pulls a short delivery straight down Peter Fulton's throat on the midwicket boundary - soft dismissal. New batsman Graeme Swann picks up a single by running the ball into the off-side with an open blade.
Over 31 - Vettori 0-1-0-0-0-1 91-5 - Vettori has settled into his rhythm after that expensive start - just a couple of singles as he mixes up his pace and flight.
Over 30 - Styris 1-1-0-1-0-+-0 89-5 - Styris is just about the perfect bowler for this type of pitch - slow, slow and slower. Doesn't make for thrilling viewing.
Over 29 - Vettori 0-0-2-1-0-0 85-5 - Good footwork from Shah allows him to collect a combined three runs from two cut strokes.
Over 28 - Styris 0-0-0-0-0-0 82-5 - Bopara blocks out a maiden from Styris, who is angling the ball in at about 70mph.
Over 27 - Vettori 1-0-0-0-1-0 82-5 - Shah was guilty of ball watching in the previous over and it's not the first time he's done that during his England career. Can he put the horror of running out his skipper behind him and guide England to a competitive target?
Over 26 - Styris 0-0-2-1-0- 80-5 - Wicket! Collingwood is run out and it's all Shah's fault. He sent back Collingwood after the England skipper had come over half way for what should have been an easy single. Ross Taylor made the pick and throw from mid on and McCullum got the bails off just before a diving Collingwood could regain his ground.
Over 25 - Vettori 1-1-1-0-4-1 77-4 - Vettori decides to bring himself into the attack for the first spin of the day, but makes an expensive start. Shah gets off the mark with a single and, later in the over, dances down the pitch and dispatches a straight drive for his first boundary.
Over 24 - Styris 0-1-0-0-0-0 69-4 - More accurate stuff from Styris. Shah has yet to get off the mark from eight balls.
Over 23 - Oram 0-0-0-0-1-0 68-4 - England will now be aiming to get up to 200, which would be a competitive total. This is a real old-school New Zealand pitch, absolutely ideal for the medium pacers, nothing like the pacy drop in pitches that were used for the two Twenty20 matches.
Over 22 - Styris 1-1-W-0-0-0 67-4 - Wicket! Mustard's 60-ball vigil is over - he played too early and had his off-stump knocked back by a slower ball. Owais Shah comes to the crease with England now in a spot of bother and starts by blocking his first three.
Over 21 - Oram 0-0-0-1-0-4 66-3 - Collingwood gets lucky as a slashed edge flys between wicketkeeper and the solitary close catcher, who is stationed at third slip.
Over 20 - Styris 0-0-0-1-2-0 60-3 - Mustard collects another three runs in increments of one and two - the 'Durham Adam Gilchrist' has yet to find any semblance of timing but at least he has got stuck and not gifted his wicket away.
Over 19 - Oram W-1-0-0-1-0 57-3 - Wicket! Another drag on, this time Pietersen is drawn into playing at a delivery that pitches well outside off-stump but only succeeds in inside edging onto his stumps. New batsman Collingwood gets off the mark with a thick outside edge along the ground to third man from his first delivery. Oram goes round-the-wicket to Mustard and immediately gets an official warning from umpire Rauf for running on the pitch.
Over 18 - Styris 0-0-0-1-0-1 55-2 - Martin is given a rest as Vettori turns to another of his medium pacers Scott Styris. Styris, who recently retired from Test cricket in order to concentrate on the shorter format, drops straight onto the ideal line and length.
Over 17 - Oram 2-0-0-0-0-0 53-2 - This is the type of pitch you would expect Pietersen to hate as the ball comes off it so slow that expansive strokeplay is difficult. Oram is taking all the pace off but Pietersen has got his head down thus far.
Over 16 - Martin 2-1-0-0-0-1 51-2 - Vettori opts to use the final power play straight away, meaning there will be five more overs with the fielding restrictions in place before they are relaxed for the remainder of the innings. Martin's control of line has been particularly impressive. He's completed eight overs on the bounce, will Vettori save his final two for at the death?
Over 15 - Oram 1-0-0-2-1-0- 47-2 - Oram is having a few problems with his run-up, several times he's pulled up before delivering the ball. Not sure if it's related to his recent injury but don't imagine he will be bowling too many more.
Over 14 - Martin W-0-0-0-0-1 43-2 - Wicket! Bell drags an inside edge back onto his stumps. The delivery kept a bit low, but it's no less than Martin deserves for a fine opening spell. Kevin Pietersen strolls to the middle, blocks his first four and then gets off-the-mark with a barely controlled fend off his nose for a single.
Over 13 - Oram 0-1-0-0-1lb-0 42-1 - First bowling change of the day sees Oram come into the attack. He missed the second Twenty20 international due to a hamstring injury so it is a bit surprising to see him bowling today.
Over 12 - Martin 0-0-0-0-4-0 40-1 - Bell pounces on a slightly short delivery and dispatches a pull shot in front of square for his opening boundary - easily the best shot of the day so far.
Over 11 - Mills 1-0-0-0-0-1 36-1 - Ian Bell gets his first run with a single into the leg-side. You get in touch at any time by clicking the FEEDBACK icon on the scorecentre - let me know your thoughts on the game.
Over 10 - Martin 1-1-1-0-W-0 34-1 - Wicket! Martin gets his reward for a fine opening spell by bowling Cook with a delivery that nipped back and clipped the leg-stump.
Over 9 - Mills 0-1-0-0-1-2 31-0 - New Zealand wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum dives high to his left but can't hang on to an edged drive from Cook - he only just got his fingertips to it.
Over 8 - Martin 0-0-2-1-1-4 27-0 - Mustard enjoys a stroke of luck as an inside edge flys past leg-stump and away to the fine-leg boundary. I'm already having to revise my opinion of the pitch - it looks good but the ball doesn't seem to be coming onto the bat. 250 would probably be a good score.
Over 7 - Mills +-0-4-1-0-0 19-0 - Mustard collects the first boundary of the match with a steer down to third-man. Neither of England's openers have found their timing yet today and the scoreboard reflects that.
Over 6 - Martin 0-0-0-0-0-1 13-0 - Just a quick single for Mustard from the final delivery of another accurate over from Martin.
Over 5 - Mills 1-1-0-1-0-+-0 12-0 - Cook is denied a boundary by a superb diving stop at point. Mustard looks to get some momentum going with a drop-and-run single into the off-side.
Over 4 - Martin 0-0-1-0-0-1 7-0 - This is a good start from New Zealand's opening bowlers in batsman-friendly conditions. They have not offered any width for Cook and Mustard to free their arms.
Over 3 - Mills 1-0-0-0-2+-0-0 5-0 - Mustard is not going to mess around but fails to make contact with a couple of huge drives outside his off-stump. Mills works up a bit more pace - the pitch is quite quick but there is no swing or seam movement whatsoever.
Over 2 - Martin 0-0-0-0-0-02-0 - Chris Martin starts with a maiden, banging it in at a decent pace. He has a good shout for lbw against Phil Mustard turned down by umpire Gary Baxter - it was just going over the top of middle stump.
Over 1 - Mills 0-0-0-2-0-02-0 - Kyle Mills takes the first over for New Zealand. He pitches it full in an effort to find some swing - there isn't any. Alastair Cook gets off the mark with a gentle push back down the ground for a couple. It looks an excellent toss to win, the pitch is straw coloured and there is a stiff breeze out in a middle (when isn't there a stiff breeze in Wellington?)
GOOD MORNING England captain Paul Collingwood has won the toss and opted to bat first on a drop in pitch at the Westpac Stadium, also known as the 'cake tin'.
England are the form team coming into the match having won the Twenty20 series 2-0 but make two changes to the starting XI with Alastair Cook and Ravi Bopara coming into the side in place of Luke Wright and Dimitri Mascarenhas.
New Zealand are strengthened by the return of captain Daniel Vettori, who missed the Twenty20 series due to an ankle injury. All-rounder Jacob Oram is also fit after missing the second Twenty20 defeat. Play starts at 0100h (GMT), join us then.
JOIN US at 0100h (GMT) on Saturday morning for over-by-over commentary on the opening one-dayer of the five match series between England and New Zealand.
