Naved: set to return from hamstring injury

Yorkshire must do without Michael Vaughan when they travel to Essex for Saturday's FP Trophy semi-final.

Vaughan experienced soreness is his right knee during the Championship defeat to Durham earlier in the week and is being rested as a precaution ahead of England's Test series against South Africa.

Yorkshire have included Naved-ul-Hasan as part of a 13-man squad for the trip south.

The Pakistan seamer has not played first-team cricket since tearing his hamstring in May but looks set to make a high-profile return.

Essex have no new injury problems for the first of two big knockout cup ties at Chelmsford in the space of three days.

Mark Pettini's men follow the Yorkshire match by hosting Northamptonshire on Monday in the Twenty20 Cup quarter-final.

Cook available

England duo Alastair Cook and Ravi Bopara are both available and have been included in a 14-man squad.

Bopara blasted an unbeaten 201 in the last-eight victory over Leicestershire and forms part of one of the most dangerous one-day batting line-ups in the county game.

Also part of the squad is all-rounder Graham Napier, fresh from an incredible innings of 152 from 58 balls in the Twenty20 Cup win over Sussex on June 24.

"If someone had offered me at the start of the season a home FPT semi-final and a home T20 quarter-final, as well as sitting nicely in the LVCC, I would have snapped their hands off," first-team coach Paul Grayson told Essex's official website.

"I'm delighted with the way we are playing and some of the personal performances have been quite brilliant.

"We are well aware that we have two massive games coming up and if we keep believing and play with the confidence we have been of late then I have no doubt we will come through with a couple of good performances."
