Chanderpaul: Back in county action
West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul will make his first appearance for Durham this season in the Division One clash with Surrey.
The left-hander has arrived at the county having completed his international commitments and will go straight into the side at Guildford.
Ben Harmison could miss out to make way for Chanderpaul in the top order, while young leg spinner Scott Borthwick could also be selected.
Surrey's seam attack will be unable to call upon the services of West Indian Pedro Collins, as he is ruled out with a side strain.
The left-armer picked up the problem in the draw with Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. James Ormond is likely to take his place.
Coach Alan Butcher has named spinner Murtaza Hussain in a 12-man squad that also includes fit-again leg spinner Chris Schofield, who has an outiside chance of playing after recovering from a fractured thumb.
Skipper Mark Butcher is still out of action after undergoing knee surgery last month so Mark Ramprakash - still looking for his 100th first-class century - will continue to lead the side.
Big-hitting all-rounder James Benning is another absentee for the home side as he is struggling with a back problem.
