England spinner Monty Panesar makes his first appearance of the summer for Northamptonshire.
Panesar is part of a 12-man squad for the home fixture against Warwickshire.
Left-arm seamer David Lucas and all-rounder Andrew Crook are also included at the expense of Budd Bailey and Jason Brown as Northants look to for an immediate response to last week's nine-wicket defeat at Essex.
Warwickshire will hand a debut to South African seamer Monde Zondeki at Wantage Road.
The Bears are also boosted by the availability of Ian Bell and Tim Ambrose after they were rested for the start of the new season on the orders of England coach Peter Moores.
Veteran leg-spinner Ian Salisbury, who missed the draw with Worcestershire last week due to a shoulder problem, looks set to make his debut after being included in a 13-man party.
There is also a place for fit-again seamer James Anyon, who has recovered from a torn muscle in his right arm.
Chris Woakes has been called up at the expense of Tim Groenewald, who along with Navdeep Poonia, is left out of the squad.
