Lance Klusener has overcome an adductor strain and is back in Northamptonshire's 13-man squad for the Division Two fixture with Gloucestershire at Wantage Road.

The South African all-rounder missed the victory over Glamorgan - Northants first of the season - but has recovered sufficiently to take his place in the squad.

Fast bowler David Wigley pressed his claims for a recall with nine wickets in the drawn tour match with New Zealand last week and could be preferred to Johan Louw in the starting XI.

Klusener, captain Nicky Boje, Andrew Hall, Johannes van der Wath were all rested against the Black Caps but come back into the squad.

Alex Wakely has recovered from a wrist problem but has been encouraged to score runs for the Second XI before a first-team return.

Captain Jon Lewis will need to pass a late fitness test on Friday morning to see if he is fit enough to lead out Gloucestershire at Wantage Road.

Lewis has been hampered by a shoulder injury he picked up during the Division Two draw with Warwickshire last week, although he did produce a fine FP Trophy display on Wednesday.

Steve Kirby is already out with a shoulder injury and Gloucestershire will be keen for Lewis to have had no ill effects from Wednesday's game.

William Rudge has been named as 12th man in the squad, and he should step in for Lewis if the skipper is ruled out, although Carl Greenidge provides another option.
