England captain Alastair Cook was pleased to end the tour of India on a high note with a seven-wicket win in the final one-day international in Dharamsala.

Ian Bell's unbeaten 113 formed the backbone of England's innings as they reached a target of 227 with 16 balls to spare, although the tourists still lost the series 3-2.

"It was a good win," said Cook. "It was important to win the toss, but the way our bowlers put the ball in the right areas and then Ian Bell's contribution - we took our chances.

"We can take lots of positives out of today. The ball was doing stuff throughout the whole day.

"It might have looked like we got over the line comfortably but that wasn't the case and there were a few nerves. But I knew if we held our nerve chasing 220 then we'd get there.

"It's always disappointing to lose the series. But to win two games here in these conditions, we can be quite proud of that."

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was disappointed with his side's batting after they were bowled out for 226.

"It was a tight series overall but we should have won this game," he said. "It was not really the amount of runs we should have put on the board.

"Had we batted slightly more sensibly we would have scored 30-35 more runs, but it is a young side and you learn from your mistakes."
