Isa Guha: Rates England's chances highly
As England's women cricketers prepare to defend their World Cup title in India, former England bowler Isa Guha has assessed the main threats they face.
With England playing India, Sri Lanka and the West Indies in their group, Guha is confident they are in a strong position as they head into the competition.
She told Sky Sports News: "If England play their best cricket, they should beat anyone on the day. They'll feel very confident going into this tournament; they're stronger, they're fitter, they're more robust than ever before.
"They've got a wonderful strength in depth in their squad; they've got a lot of people they can rely on.
"A team that have been together for such a long period of time as well so everyone knows each other's roles as well as their own and I think that will stand them in good stead."
Guha added that she believed the squad is incredibly strong with some key players in the line-up.
"There's quite a few players to look out for. Obviously, Sarah Taylor, she's been in the papers recently, she's a wonderful talent within the side. Charlotte Edwards, she's had a career spanning over 15 years."
Sarah Taylor has recently been in the news due to the fact that she may well play for Sussex in the men's game and Guha believes she could make the transition.
"I definitely think she is one person that can do that," she added. "She is a rare talent. I think as the women's game evolves, there are going to be girls coming up and stepping up to the plate, wanting to test themselves in those conditions."
As the team head into the tournament, the former bowler noted who England should be wary of.
She said: "I think the old enemy Australia, they've been playing some really good cricket over the last couple of years.
"A lot of the other teams are actually coming up now though as well, New Zealand have turned themselves around over the last year. They beat England in the warm-up yesterday in fact."
