The week he has had 300 runs without being dismissed in three innings and a five-for thrown in, he is having pretty much a stormer.
Quotes of the week
Kent skipper Robert Key praised the contribution of Martin van Jaarsveld to the 83-run FP Trophy semi-final win at Durham.
The South African-born batsman completed a superb week by finishing unbeaten on 122 from 93 balls in Kent's total of 301-4, building on the good work of opening batsman Joe Denly, who had laid the platform with a more sedate 102.
Van Jaarsveld also scored a century in each innings of Kent's Championship win over Surrey earlier in the week and now has 602 runs in eight FP Trophy innings this season.
Holders Durham were bowled out for 217 in reply and Kent will now face either Essex or Yorkshire - who meet in the second semi-final on Saturday - in the final at Lord's on August 16.
"The week he has had 300 runs without being dismissed in three innings and a five-for thrown in, he is having pretty much a stormer," Key said of van Jaarsveld.
"It doesn't get much better than that.
"And for Joe Denly, a young player coming in, to go out there like he did and get a hundred was brilliant.
"The senior guys are expected to turn it on but for him to do it against a proper attack - that was a serious attack - was great. He played without fear against people like Shaun Pollock.
"I think the reason we probably didn't get more was Steve Harmison (who took 4-47), he was unbelievable."
