Tillakaratne Dilshan: top scored for RCB with 71
AB de Villiers: hit five fours and three sixes during 17-ball innings
AB de Villiers launched a stunning assault on the Deccan Chargers' bowling to see Royal Challengers Bangalore to a target of 181 in Bangalore.
Arriving in the middle with 76 still needed off six overs, De Villiers lost Tillakaratne Dilshan (71) an over later yet still managed to blaze an unbeaten 47 off just 17 balls, with five fours and three sixes.
The key over was bowled by his fellow South African Dale Steyn, with the scoring sequence going six, two, four, six, four and finally a single which De Villiers took to keep himself on strike.
From needing 39 off three overs, RCB required 16 off two, and De Villiers made that look simple as he smashed Anand Rajan for two fours followed by another six before Syed Mohammad hit his first and only ball for four to end the game.
Earlier, Deccan had made 181-2 thanks to Shikhar Dhawan (73), Daniel Harris (47) and Cameron White (45). Muttiah Muralitharan's wicketless spell of four overs for 18 proved key in the context of the match.
