Skipper Eoin Morgan hit a six off the final ball to lead England to a six-wicket victory over India in the second T20 International in Mumbai.

Morgan finished unbeaten on 49 from 26 balls as England overhauled a target of 178 - their highest successful run chase in the format - for a share of the series.

Openers Michael Lumb (50) and Alex Hales (42) set it up with an 80-run stand in 8.2 overs before left-arm spinner Yuvraj Singh threatened to derail the tourists' innings, just as he had in the first game of the series in Pune on Thursday.

Yuvraj removed Lumb, Luke Wright and Hales on the way to figures of 3-17 and England were struggling with 37 needed from the final three overs.

But Jos Buttler (15no) helped his skipper take it all the way and, with three required, Morgan dispatched the final delivery from Ashok Dinda back over the seam bowler's head for a huge six.

England had earlier failed to contain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina's late onslaught as the hosts posted a challenging 177-8 at the Wankhede Stadium.

Stuart Meaker's last over cost 20 runs, with India skipper Dhoni blasting 38 from 18 balls and Raina contributing 35 from just 24 deliveries.

Virat Kohli had laid the platform with a 20-ball 38 at number three, while seamer Tim Bresnan (1-27) and spinner James Tredwell (1-27)were the pick of England's attack.

The result denied India the chance to move above Sri Lanka the top of the International Cricket Council rankings. The two sides resume hostilities in the new year with a five-match ODI series, starting in Rajkot on January 11.

Sky Sports has secured the rights to England's tour of New Zealand - that's three T20Is, three ODIs and three Test matches. Catch the first T20 International live on Sky Sports on February 9.
