Pakistan v Australia ODI Series in UAE 2012
3rd ODI
Ground:
Sharjah CA Stadium, UAE
Mohammad Hafeez: Top-scored for Pakistan with 78
Glenn Maxwell: Celebrates beating Pakistan in the third one-day international
Michael Hussey made 65 and Glenn Maxwell hit an unbeaten 56 as Australia beat Pakistan by three wickets in Sharjah to win their one-day series 2-1.
Chasing Pakistan's total of 244-7 from their 50 overs, Hussey and Maxwell put together a stand of 67 as the Aussies got home with three overs to spare.
Pakistan made a very solid to their innings with Mohammad Hafeez (78) and Nasir Jamshed (48) putting on 129 for the first wicket, before the latter was caught behind when he edged a Mitchell Johnson bouncer in the 27th over.
However, wickets then began to fall more regularly, Shahid Afridi holing out to deep mid-wicket off Johnson for just seven before Hafeez was lbw to Aussie skipper Michael Clarke's second ball.
Boundaries also became hard to come by as Mitchell Starc (4-51) worked his way through the middle order, captain Misbah-ul-Haq (25) one of his victims.
When Australia batted, David Warner (21), David Hussey (43) and Clarke (32) all got out after making starts and they looked in trouble when George Bailey (1) was caught behind off Saeed Ajmal (3-27) to leave them 108-4.
But Hussey and Matthew Wade (22) got them back on course with a stand of 51 before Maxwell played the key innings.
His 56 not out came off just 38 balls and, although he lost Hussey and then Daniel Christian, he saw the job through until the end, smashing Junaid Khan for six to wrap up the win.
