Sri Lanka v New Zealand ODI Series 2012
5th ODI
Ground:
Mahinda Rajapaksha International Cricket Stadium
Last updated: 12th November 2012
Upul Tharanga and Tim Southee starred before the rain came in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka claimed a 3-0 win in their rain-ruined one-day series with New Zealand after the final match of the five was aptly abandoned because of rain.
The hosts claimed all three of their victories via the Duckworth/Lewis method after rain affected all of the games in the five-match series.
The final ODI also fell victim to conditions in Sri Lanka with only 28 overs of action being possible before it was decided to finally end a series which had been battered by rain from the very start to the finish.
Black Caps skipper Ross Taylor won the final toss of the series and put Sri Lanka in to bat, and they were in trouble at 123-8 when the rain started yet again.
Luckily for them, they did not have to face any more of the New Zealand attack as the rain prevented any further play and Sri Lanka walked away with the series victory.
Whilst play was actually going on, Upul Tharanga scored 60 for Sri Lanka and seam bowler Tim Southee was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets for New Zealand.
