County Championship Division 1
Trent Bridge, Nottingham
Middlesex have laid down a marker at the start of the 2013 county season with an emphatic 10-wicket victory over Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
The men from Lord's wasted little time chasing down their victory target of 108, with openers Sam Robson (55 not out) and Chris Rogers (51no) both posting unbeaten half-centuries.
Toby Roland-Jones (2-75) claimed the final Notts wicket with the first ball of the final day, ending Andre Adams' entertaining innings on 50 when he was caught superbly by Ollie Rayner at second slip.
The 108-run target looked a potentially tricky one but openers Robson and Rogers, who both passed 50 in the first-innings, did so once again second time around to give Middlesex a dream start to the LV= Division One campaign.
Rogers was the first to his fifty, from just 52 deliveries, with Robson's coming from 84 and the right-hander then stroked Samit Patel through the off side to secure the victory.
Middlesex leave the east midlands with 23 points, while hosts Notts accrued just five.
