David Warner's unbeaten 66 helped Delhi Daredevils canter to a seven-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday.

The third victory in four matches keeps Delhi in the hunt for a place in the play-offs, a feat which looked highly-unlikely after Mahela Jayawardene's men began the campaign with six straight defeats.

Their latest success was made possible after a disciplined bowling and fielding display restricted the Knight Riders to just 136-7 batting first.

The defending champions lost openers Gautam Gambhir and Manvinder Bisla inside the opening 14 deliveries of an innings which simply never gathered any momentum.

Star duo Jacques Kallis (12) and Eoin Morgan (10) both came and went and only some lusty late hitting from Sumit Narwal (23 off 15) and Brett Lee (16 off six) saw Kolkata up to respectability.

Delhi lost Jayawardene and Virender Sehwag early in the reply but a 95-run partnership between Warner, batting down at No.4, and Unmukt Chand (37) took the game away from the Knight Riders.

Aussie left-hander Warner crashed six boundaries and three sixes in his 42-ball knock and compatriot Ben Rohrer (10no) hit the winning runs in the 18th over.
