A spectacular collapse from Surrey's top-order helped Hampshire cruise to a seven-wicket victory in their Friends Life t20 clash at the Ageas Bowl.

Hampshire, who have now won four straight matches in the competition, removed Steven Davies, Murali Kartik, Jason Roy and Rory Hamilton-Brown within three overs as visitors slumped to 9-4 after winning the toss.

Surrey never recovered as they were limited to 94-6 from their 20 overs and Hampshire had little difficulty in sweeping past that target with 27 balls to spare and only three wickets down.

Surrey were in trouble from that first over when Hampshire spinner Liam Dawson found a way through Davies' defences to bowl the opener for three.

Dimitri Mascarenhas then dismissed Kartik to the first ball the Indian faced and three balls later got rid of Roy for one. And when Hamilton-Brown was run out for three in the net over the decisive damage had been done.

Gary Wilson departed for nine, stumped by Michael Bates off Dawson, as the top five in the batting order all failed to make it into double figures.

Zafar Ansari (38 not out) and Gareth Batty (23no) at least prevented a rout with an unbroken 52-run stand for the seventh wicket, but it was clear that the total would not be enough.

James Vince (25) and Jimmy Adams (17) put on 43 for the first Hampshire wicket until Kartik (3-16) caused some minor concern in the home camp with three wickets for the addition of just 10 runs.

But there was still plenty of time for Neil McKenzie and Glenn Maxwell to ease Hampshire home in an unbroken stand of 42 in seven overs.

Australian Maxwell continued his spectacular t20 spell with Hampshire by lifting Ansari for six on his way to 22 not out, while McKenzie was unbeaten on a more sedate 20.

Hampshire move onto nine points in the South Group, three behind leaders Sussex and five clear of last-placed Surrey.
