Deccan Chargers celebrate a welcome victory over Pune Warriors
Cameron White top scored with 78 as the Deccan Chargers finally grabbed a first win of the Indian Premier League campaign against the Pune Warriors.
After six games without a victory, the competition's bottom side enjoyed success at last as they won by 18 runs on the back of White's innings.
The Australian all-rounder helped Deccan reach 177-4, with Rusty Theron and Ashish Reddy then taking two wickets each as the hosts could only get to 159-7 from their 20 overs.
The Chargers won the toss and chose to bat, with Parthiv Patel and Shikhar Dawan opening. The latter was out for 16 with the score on 39 which brought White to the crease - and he quickly set about the Warriors' bowlers.
Patel (24) and Kumar Sangakkara (12) both fell but White reached 78 off 46 deliveries before he was caught by Alfonso Thomas off the bowling of Marlon Samuels. J-P Duminy finished up unbeaten on 26.
Pune lost wickets at regular intervals in their reply, with Robin Uthappa top-scoring on 29.
Australian Steven Smith did look dangerous before his removal by Theron having hit 26 off 13 deliveries, including three sixes.
