Punjab celebrate getting over the line
Kings XI Punjab survived a late collapse to fall over the line to in a four-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Three late run outs threatened to scupper Kings XI, who had restricted their hosts to 158-5 but the target, and a fourth win on the road, was eventually reached with one ball to spare.
Royal Challengers appeared on course for a huge score when Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli were at the crease sharing 119 for the second wicket.
Gayle smashed four sixes in his 42-ball 71 before a top-edged pull gave Azhar Mahmood the first of his three wickets.
Kohli misjudged Piyush Chawla's straight one in the next over, and a return of 29 runs from the final four overs left the visitors with an achievable target.
Nitin Saini's half-century and decent contributions from Mandeep Singh (43) and David Hussey (45) left them needing 13 from 24 balls, but panic set in after Saini's dismissal.
Mahmood, Hussey and Abhishkek Nayar were run out in the space of seven balls, and Paras Dogra was dropped in the final over before Chawla's huge six brought a no-nonsense end to the farce.
