Ned Eckersley: Struck a blistering 72 not out
Leicestershire climbed off the bottom of the Clydesdale Bank 40 Group A after Ned Eckersley led them to a thrilling two-wicket win over fellow-strugglers Worcestershire.
Chasing a testing target of 224, the Foxes looked out of the hunt at 107-6 until Eckersley hammered a blistering unbeaten 72 to secure an unlikely victory with an over to spare.
Vikram Solanki had earlier top-scored with 41 for the Royals, while Moeen Ali (30) and Neil Pinner (31) chipped in with useful contributions.
Josh Cobb anchored the Foxes reply with a patient 51, but the rest of the batting failed to fire until Wayne White and Eckersley came together.
Eckersley dominated a seventh-wicket stand of 85, bludgeoning seven sixes in his swashbuckling 44-ball knock.
White provided crucial support before being trapped lbw by Jack Shantry for 22, and Moeen dismissed Robert Taylor next over to set up a tense finale.
But Eckersley and Jamie Sykes held their nerve to earn the Foxes only their third win of the competition.
