Heavy rain prevented any play in the Friends Life t20 match between Lancashire and Yorkshire scheduled for Old Trafford on Friday.

After a day of persistent downpours in Manchester, and with the weather forecast giving no cause for optimism, umpires Steve Garratt and Steve O'Shaughnessy inspected the ground at 4.30pm and had little option but to abandon any hope of cricket taking place.

The washout is another blow to Lancashire's hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals, with Glen Chapple's side now needing to beat Durham on Sunday and hope results in the other two groups go their way.

By contrast, North Group leaders Yorkshire have already booked a place in the last eight and will secure a home tie if they beat Derbyshire at Headingley on Sunday.
