Abdul Razzaq: starred with the ball
Leicestershire finally opened their account in this season's Friends Life t20 with an eight-run triumph over Derbyshire at Grace Road.
The reigning champions came out on top in an eight-a-side contest after rain had delayed the start of the North Group clash, meaning they are now off the mark following four successive defeats.
Leicestershire scored 80-3 after being put into bat, Greg Smith hitting 23 off 15 balls overs before Rana Naved-ul-Hasan ended his enterprising knock with a delivery that knocked back the middle stump.
However the Pakistan bowler proved expensive at the death, three no balls not helping, as the Foxes added 24 quick-fire runs in the last two overs.
Derbyshire's reply was given a flying start when Wayne White conceded 15 runs from the very first over.
But Abdul Razzaq and Rob Taylor turned the game round for the home side with some splendid seam bowling as Derbyshire were limited to 72-6.
Razzaq took 3-20 in two overs and Taylor claimed 2-7, getting Australian Usman Khawaja and Wes Durston caught in his second over.
Although White conceded another 21 runs off the penultimate over of the innings, Razzaq returned to bowl the last six balls and picked up the wicket of Wayne Madsen as the Falcons fell short.
