LV County Championship - Division One
Day One - The Rose Bowl
Sussex 64-6 (J T A Bruce 4-33) v Hampshire
Hampshire's James Bruce produced season's best figures of four for 33 to leave Sussex at sixes and sevens on day one of their Division One match at the Rose Bowl.
The home side took six wickets in all to leave the champions floundering on 64 for six before rain halted play from the lunch break onwards.
Bruce took the place of England's Chris Tremlett, and opened Hampshire's bowling alongside Daren Powell - the latter making his first appearance for the county.
And Bruce was soon celebrating, with the wickets of opener Chris Nash (0) and Michael Yardy (1) both heading his way.
Richard Montgomerie (24 no) and Murray Goodwin started to show some form, but the latter soon became Bruce's third victim.
Sussex captain Chris Adams then made just one before being caught by opposing skipper Shane Warne at second slip off Powell.
And the collapse continued when both Andy Hodd (9) and Robin Martin-Jenkins (6) followed their colleagues back to the pavilion.
