LV County Championship - Division One
Day One - Kent 135-2 (J L Denly 60 no) v Yorkshire
Kent opener Joe Denly added to his growing reputation with a battling 60 not out against Yorkshire at Scarborough.
The classy 21-year-old opener has been in fine for the Spitfires this season, however he caught the eye with his quickfire 83 off 90 balls playing for the England Lions against India.
But at a rain-swept North Marine Road, Denly showed his more dogged qualities as he reached his fifth half-century of the season in difficult conditions to help Kent to 135-2 at the close. James Tredwell continued his fine season to reach 40 not out
Only 41 overs were possible, with rain a key factor throughout the opening day.
Denly's fellow Lion Tim Bresnan grabbed the two wickets to fall to finish on 2-37.
