Warwickshire batted out the final day to secure a draw against Somerset at Taunton, last pair Rikki Clarke and Oliver Hannon-Dalby surviving the last hour and 18 minutes to see the visitors to safety.

Warwickshire resumed on the final morning on 144-3 in pursuit of 515 and Varun Chopra, on 81 overnight, soon advanced to his 12th first-class century.

Chopra was bowled by left-arm spinner Jack Leach for 108 but solid contributions from Laurie Evans (55), Tim Ambrose (65) and Chris Woakes (42) set up an exciting finish.

Somerset seamer Jamie Overton (3-126) reignited his side's victory push with the wickets of Ambrose, Evans and Woakes.

The umpires took the players off because of bad light at 4.20pm, but less than 10 minutes later they returned and only two overs were lost.

Jos Buttler had to take over from Craig Kieswetter behind the stumps for Somerset after Kieswetter took a blow on the finger.

Leach (5-63) removed Jeetan Patel (4) to complete his maiden first-class five-wicket haul and, when Alfonso Thomas (1-96) followed up by dismissing Chris Wright lbw for a duck, Warwickshire had slumped to 376-9 - still 138 behind, with more than 19 overs remaining.

Hannon-Dalby (10no) survived a caught behind appeal from Jamie Overton and went on to frustrate Somerset for 62 balls.

The former Yorkshre bowler compiled an unbroken 51-run stand alongside Clarke - who was dropped twice in the slips during his 61 not out - to leave Warwickshire on 427-9 at the close.
