Northamptonshire were forced to settle for a draw after the final day of their LV= County Championship Second Division match against Glamorgan at the SWALEC Stadium was a complete washout.

Stephen Peters' side had gone into the fourth day in a winning position after reducing the home side to 96-4 in their second innings.

Glamorgan needed a further 62 runs to avoid an innings defeat with Murray Goodwin (three not out) and Jim Allenby (16no) at the crease but bad light and then rain saved the Welsh county.

Northamptonshire, who won just two Division Two matches last season, took eight points from the game to Glamorgan's six.

Glamorgan host Worcestershire next week while Northants welcome Essex to Wantage Road.
