England's hopes of reaching the final of the ICC Women's World Cup are over after Australia collapsed to defeat against the West Indies.

Australia's eight run defeat meant that England, who needed the Australians to win and be victorious against New Zealand themselves, will have to settle for the third place play off as the West Indies set up a rematch for Sunday's final.

West Indies won the toss and chose to bat but saw their top order blown away by Megan Schutt (3-50) and Holly Ferling (3-27) as they stood at 92-7.

However, the big hitting Deandra Dottin top scored with 60 off of 67 balls as they finished 164 all out.

Things looked promising for England as the previously unbeaten Australian's reached 130-4 by the 38th over only for a tail-end collapse of monumental proportions.

Three wickets fell in quick succession as Alex Blackwell, Jodie Fields and Julie Hunter were removed in the space of 14 balls for the loss of just one run, as West Indies battled back into the game.

In a superb display of both bowling and fielding, including three run-outs, they claimed the last six Australian wickets for just 26 runs to knock defending champions England out of final contention and secure their place instead.
