Glamorgan 221-7 Innings Complete (D L Hemp 95) v Somerset 202
Glamorgan beat Somerset by 19 runs
Glamorgan successfully defended a score of 221-7 to claim their first Friends Provident Trophy victory over a first-class county since 2001 against Somerset at Taunton.
Skipper David Hemp made what turned out to be a match-winning 95 as the hosts were bowled out for 202 to suffere their first defeat of the season.
Hemp put on 91 with Michael Powell for the second wicket before James Hildreth accounted for Powell, caught by Craig Kieswetter for 32.
The Somerset bowlers then tightened their grip, Hemp falling to a sharp caught and bowled from Pete Trego five short of his century, the visitors restricted to just 30 off the final five overs.
Jason Gillespie and David Harrison put the pressure on early but it was Alex Wharf who made the breakthrough, removing Marcus Trescothick with the score on 30.
Wickets fell at regular intervals with Zander de Bruyn assisting the vistors by running himself out having faced just three balls, while Harrison bagged James Hildreth as Somerset struggled to 45-4.
Ian Blackwell hit two sixes in reaching 42 off 36 balls, but was out leg before to Dean Cosker with the total still two short of the century mark.
Trego and Aaron Thomas kept the scoreboard ticking over with a stand of 39 for the eighth wicket before the latter was leg before to Jamie Dalrymple after making 16.
Trego hit an entertaining 30 before he was caught at deep extra cover by Ben Wright off Wharf, after which Steffan Jones stepped up and hit three sixes to keep local interest alive.
But Jones' heroics came to nothing when he was caught on the boundary off Harrison having made 42 from 36 balls, leaving his side 19 short.
