Glamorgan (11pts) drew with Derbyshire (9pts)

An unlikely result was not possible in Cardiff as Derbyshire managed to bat out the final day against Glamorgan to earn a draw in a rain-affected clash.

Starting the day trailing by 91, Derbyshire's only realistic target was to bat out for the draw and, despite slumping to 89-4 at one stage they successfully made it to 184-7 to grab the draw.

With one wicket down, three wickets fell for just 17 runs as Robert Croft got rid of Derbyshire opener Steve Stubbings for 37 before Alex Wharf accounted for John Sadler and Dominic Telo to leave the visitors on 89-4.

Daniel Birch and Frederic Klokker then put on a comforting 61-run partnership for the fifth wicket to help settle their innings.

James Dalrymple strck twice and Wharf bagged a third as three more wickets fell quickly for the addition of 13 runs, but it was always going to be enough for the draw.

Day Three

Charl Langeveldt bowled Derbyshire back into their rain-affected match against Glamorgan in Cardiff.

The South African produced figures of 5-22 in a devastating 6.5 over spell to bowl the home side out for 384 after they had resumed on 301-3, leading by 12 runs.

Only 29.5 overs were possible on day three, with play abandoned at 4.50pm after steady rain began to fall during the lunch interval.

That was still enough time for Langeveldt to make his mark with the second new ball, first removing Mark Wallace before taking two wickets in two balls to see off James Dalrymple and Robert Croft.

After Jonathan Clare bowled Jason Gillespie, Langeveldt mopped up the Glamorgan tail with two further wickets.

Derbyshire reached 4-0 in their second innings before the rain began to fall.

Day Two

Glamorgan took charge on the second day against Derbyshire with Gareth Rees and David Hemp hitting tons to move them 12 runs ahead with just three wickets down.

Resuming on 87-1, Rees and Hemp took their second-wicket stand up to a fine 154 before opening Rees went for 104 when trapped lbw by Jake Needham.

Michael Powell fell two runs short of his half-century before becoming Needham's second wicket as he added 95 alongside Hemp.

James Dalrymple was with Hemp at stumps as he finished the day unbeaten on 103 after facing 175 balls as the hosts stand in a commanding position for the start of day three.

Day One

Half centuries from Jonathan Clare and Chris Rogers helped Derbyshire post a first innings total; of 289 on day one of their match with Glamorgan in Cardiff.

Clare produced a canny knock to help guide the tail on to a competitive total, finishing with a career-best score of 70 not out.

Rogers contributed 69 from 111 balls before Robert Croft helped himself to four wickets to take himself up to and past 900 first-class victims.

In reply Glamorgan reached 39 without loss before Matthew Wood was trapped leg before by Graham Wagg, but Gareth Rees and David Hemp saw them through to the close as they finished on 87-1.
