Nottinghamshire Outlaws 231-9 (A C Voges 85) v Hampshire Hawks 200-9 (M J Lumb 63, A D Mascarenhas 51 no)
Nottinghamshire beat Hampshire by 31 runs

Nottinghamshire made it two wins from two at the start of their NatWest Pro40 campaign with a 31-run success over Hampshire.

Adam Voges smacked two sixes and seven fours in his 81 to help the Outlaws post a challenging total of 231-9 at Trent Bridge.

Opener Graeme Swann had got the innings off to an excellent start with a quick-fire 31 that saw him dominate a first-wicket stand of 45 with Matthew Wood.

Voges came in after both openers had departed in quick succession and set about buidling a big score, getting excellent support from Bilal Shafayat (45).

Missed out

Indeed, the Australian looked set for his first hundred for the county until he attempted to launch Billy Taylor over long-on but only found Michael Carberry out in the deep.

However, his efforts with the bat had left Hampshire with a tall order and the Hawks were soon in trouble when John Crawley fell for a third-ball duck.

Michael Lumb did his best to keep his side on track with an excellent 63 from just 66 balls, though he failed to get much help from the top order.

Swann followed up his efforts with the bat by taking 3-27 and leave Hampshire spinning towards defeat at 140-7.

Skipper Dimi Mascarenhas battled hard to the end but his lively unbeaten 51 was not enough, his team finishing well short on 200-9.
