Surrey beat Warwickshire by 21 runs
Surrey Brown Caps kept their promotion hopes alive in the NatWest Pro40 League with a 21-run win over Warwickshire Bears at Edgbaston.
Mark Ramprakash carried on James Benning's fine work earlier in the innings as he bludgeoned an unbeaten 54 to take Surrey to 238-5 and the home side were in serious contention until Jonathan Trott was dismissed for 92.
An explosive start from Surrey was ignited in superb fashion by Benning who made a 79-ball 74 with solid support from fellow opener Scott Newman (21) and Stewart Walters (24).
When Benning eventually departed to former Brown Caps leg-spinner Ian Salisbury - Ramprakash stepped up to the plate with fine striking late on to propel Surrey up to a daunting 238-5.
The Bears chase got off to a dreadful start when pinch-hitter Neil Carter was dismissed for just one, however Trott and Jim Troughton steadied the ship superbly with a fine 98-run partnership.
Jade Dernbach turned the match for the Brown Caps by removing Trott in a burst of four wickets in 16 balls as Warwickshire wilted in front of their home supporters.
Left-arm spinner Usman Afzaal went on to claim 3-42 as Warwickshire lost by 21 runs when dismissed for 217.
