Asia Cup - Group B
Karachi
Pakistan 299-4 Innings Complete (Shoaib Malik 125, Younus Khan 59) v India 301-4 (V Sehwag 119, S K Raina 84)
India beat Pakistan by 6 wkts
Virendar Sehwag hammered 119 runs from just 95 balls to lead India to a comfortable six-wicket win over Pakistan in the final Group B Asia Cup match in Karachi.
Sehwag was well supported by Suresh Raina, who hit a 68-ball 84 during their 198-run second wicket stand, to help India overhaul Pakistan's 299-4 with all of 7.5 overs to spare.
Opener Sehwag hit 12 fours and five sixes, while Raina had 10 fours and four maximums.
Yuvraj Singh with a 47-ball 48 and Mahendra Singh Dhoni with an unbeaten 26 saw the visitors safely to their target in the 43rd over.
Pakistan's bowling attack was hamstrung by the loss of seamer Umar Gul to a third-over side strain.
Earlier, Salim Malik added 90 for the opening wicket with Salman Butt (35) and another 129 for the second wicket with Younus Khan (59) to help Pakistan to a competitive-looking total.
But it was nowhere near enough on a flat pitch as the hosts eventually paid for a sedate start, putting on just 58 runs off the first 15 overs.
Malik reached his sixth century in one-day internationals off 104 balls after twice being dropped.
He finally retired hurt after suffering cramp in his leg after hitting 16 boundaries and a six during his 119-ball knock.
Younus followed him in the next over when he holed out off Yusuf in the deep.
Both India and Pakistan reached the Super League stage, but India carry two points into the next stage by virtue of this win.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh also qualified from Group A. The Super League starts on Saturday with India facing Bangladesh.
