South Africa beat Zimbabwe by 212 runs

JP Duminy hit his first ever one-day international century as South Africa scored a record 212-run win over Zimbabwe at Centurion to seal a 2-0 series victory.

The winning margin was the Proteas' biggest against their neighbours and it had appeared on the cards after Duminy hit an unbeaten 111.

With the hosts batting first, Jacques Kallis (81) and Graeme Smith (53) made a century opening stand as South Africa reached an imposing 331-5.

In reply, Zimbabwe were bowled out for just 119 in 34.3 overs - the tone for their innings being set when both openers departed for ducks.

Hamilton Masakadza was first to go when he edged Charl Langeveldt to Kallis at second slip and the latter then completed an acrobatic catch off Lonwabo Tsotsobe to remove Brendan Taylor.

Albie Morkel sliced through the middle order, claiming 3-12 to leave Zimababwe on 62-5 - the contest effectively over already.

An element of resistance came from Tatenda Taibu, who followed his unbeaten century in the first match of the series with a score of 52.

It ended when the wicketkeeper-batsman edged Langeveldt to Mark Boucher, Taibu becoming the fifth Zimbabwe batsman to be dismissed in such a manner.

Rout

Off-spinner Roelof van der Merwe completed the rout when he had Kyle Jarvis caught by Ryan McLaren and joined Morkel and Langeveldt with three wickets apiece.

Earlier, Smith and Kallis made 108 runs for the first wicket, but the captain should really have departed having made just four - Smith being dropped by Taylor at gully.

The pair made the most of the reprieve and proceeded to bring up a century stand in 95 balls, with only a quick piece of thinking by Taibu behind the stumps breaking the partnership.

It was Smith who departed after momentarily dragging his foot out of the crease when trying to sweep Prosper Utseya - Taibu then whipping the bails off in flash.

Kallis appeared set for a century himself but his serene progress came to an end when, attempting to lift Utseya over the fence, he instead found Chigumbura at short third man.

Duminy reached his 50 at the rate of a run-a-ball by crunching a short-pitched delivery from Alexander Cremer through cover.

Alviro Petersen (13) then became one of Ray Price's three wickets when he was trapped lbw by a delivery that hardly bounced.

South Africa thus stood on 240-4 with 10 overs remaining and although Morkel (14) was caught on the deep square leg boundary off Price soon enough, Duminy and Mark Boucher took the score past 300.

The pair put together an unbeaten 58-run stand from 33 balls, with Duminy reaching his maiden ODI century from just 82 balls - the left-hander hitting nine fours and a pair of sixes.
