England's women wrapped up a 3-0 series win against New Zealand with a 10-run victory in a rain-reduced match at Eden Park.

The tourists posted a competitive total of 108-6 despite losing early wickets before the White Ferns reached 90-6 when rain stopped play with seven balls left.

The players were unable to re-take the field so Duckworth-Lewis calculations meant England claimed a 10-run win.

England were off to a poor start when Laura Marsh fell to the second ball of the match scooping to mid-wicket and Charlotte Edwards soon followed as she top-edged a pull shot.

Sarah Taylor and Arran Brindle were run out in consecutive balls in the third over - Taylor was unlucky in her dismissal, backing up she was caught short of her ground when Lydia Greenway hit straight back to Frances Mackay who flicked the ball onto the stumps.

Fightback

But the Kent duo of Greenway and Tamsin Beaumont rebuilt for England, putting on a 46-run partnership before the latter edged a ball onto her stumps in the 14th over.

After adding 26 and restoring control for England, Greenway was run out in the following over, but Jenny Gunn showed composure as she put on a quick-fire 30 not out, lofting the only six of the innings in a 46-run partnership with Susie Rowe, who finished on 15 not out.

The hosts made a rapid start in reply before Anya Shrubsole bowled Frances Mackay in the sixth over with the score on 31.

The tourists continued to exert the pressure as Suzie Bates skied one which Taylor caught comfortably. With the hosts on 60-2 England remained disciplined as Danielle Wyatt had Sara McGlashan caught behind by Taylor.

After Katie Perkins was run-out by Shrubsole in the 17th over, New Zealand needed 24 runs from the 18 remaining balls, but the task proved too much for the hosts as they collapsed with Wyatt claiming a second scalp and Danielle Hazell picking up 2-22.

England had won the first two games by six wickets and 48 runs to take them to the brink of a series win, with two matches still to play at Invercargill this weekend.

The teams will then take part in two one-day internationals at the start of next month.
