The weather has had the final say in the third Test between England and the West Indies as the match at Edgbaston was abandoned as a draw.

England finished the series as 2-0 winners as a result of the draw - which was always a near certainty after rain washed out the opening two days of the final Test of the series.

After two days of rain, the third and fourth days actually offered up some decent cricket, with Tino Best's superb batting at number 11 lifting the tourists up to 426 in their first innings.

Ironically the two days turned out to be two of the best of the tour for the Windies as they had England on 221-5 at the end of the fourth day.

However, no further play was possible on Monday after more wet weather in Birmingham and umpires Tony Hill and Kumar Dharmasena eventually announced the inevitable abandonment.

England had already picked up the Wisden trophy after winning the first two Tests at Lord's and Trent Bridge.
